Founded in 1924, Woodgreen’s mission is to care for vulnerable pets, whether they have been abandoned, neglected, are vulnerable or simply need a home. Our vision is for every pet to have a home where they are loved, well cared for and enjoy positive relationships with their owners.

We do this through operations at our rescue centre, veterinary surgery, kennels, cattery, small animal centre and fields outside Godmanchester near Huntingdon. We are in an exciting period of growth and transformation and are now looking to appoint a Communications, Media and PR Manager to play a pivotal role in promoting our organisation’s mission to regional and national target audiences encouraging further support and increased donations.

Responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated communications strategy to ensure brand consistency across all channels and alignment to our organisational aims, the successful applicant will build and maintain influential media relationships to grow and enhance our external positioning. They will promote our core brand messaging and values in all external formal and informal communications and will support our senior leaders in their relationships with external influential figures and partner organisations accompanying them to media interviews and events as required.

Working with a data-driven mindset, you will use insight and research to guide Woodgreen’s communications and boost our profile within our key target audience segments. You will instinctively know how to pivot and leverage cultural and topical stories, making sure that Woodgreen is able to be a part of viral and national trends and talking points. You will manage all external, media communications including press releases, talking points, FAQ’s and positioning statements and will oversee our crisis communications and reputational risk management providing expert guidance to senior leaders and Executive Leadership Team.

The starting salary for this position will be £43,108 – £47,898 per annum depending on experience. This will be complemented by;

  • 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to 40 days after five years.

This is a hybrid opportunity with the expectation that the successful candidate will work mostly remotely with around approximately 2 days per month at our site in Godmanchester. Due to the nature of this role there will also be the requirement to facilitate media interviews as and when required from our Godmanchester site or other filming locations, sometimes at short notice.
