ChildFund Kenya is recruiting for a Communications Intern.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Communications Intern will sit in the ChildFund Kenya Country Office and work with the Communications Specialist. The candidate is expected to:

· Contribute to implementation of the communications strategy consistent with the organization’s mission, key messaging, core outcomes and area of excellence.

· Develop written stories, photos and videos to support visibility, fundraising, PR, advocacy, sponsor care at the international and national level.

· In coordination with other departments at the Country Office and Local Partners, prepare and distribute information, education and communications material to target audiences.

· Prepare monthly and quarterly organizational reports.

· During emergency responses, work ¡n close collaboration with the National Emergency Response Team and implement a communications plan targeting key stakeholders.

· Assist with the coordination and logistical preparation for events.

· I Identify and seize media opportunities to promote ChildFund’s programs and assist in handling queries by news media in a timely and appropriate manner.

· Take and edit programs and events photographs and videos and upload on ChildFund media bank

· Develop content for ChildFund social media accounts and update these platforms.

Qualifications and Experience

· Experience in writing, editing and producing materials for website content.

· Holding or in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications or a related field. If pursuing, the applicant should be in their third or final year of study.

Competencies:

· Experience with content management systems and tools.

· Working knowledge of photo editing software and video production.

· The ability to communicate simply, clearly and effectively with excellent written and editing skills.

· Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office business application software.

· Possess ability to work under pressure.

· Team player.
