Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a highly talented Communication Associate to support the GAIN Bangladesh country programme with the implementation of their communications strategy and activities.

This role will be based out of Dhaka, Bangladesh and is offered on a fixed term contract of up to 2 years’, subject to the availability of funding.

About GAIN

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the role

Working closely with the Project Manager, Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) and the GAIN Bangladesh country office team, you will play a key role in supporting with the effective development, execution and implementation of the country offices’ communication strategy, ensuring alignment with GAIN Bangladesh’s business plan and global communication strategy.

You will also manage media content through various digital channels, engage with relevant stakeholders and maintain the country offices’ organisational profile, developing impact-driven case studies working with the Country and GAIN Global Communications Team.

Key role specifics include:

  • Supporting with the development and implementation of the country programme communication strategy.
  • Ensuring that the production of communication products and materials is timely executed and followed up to support the country communication strategy, including national, regional and global campaigns and to support with resource mobilization.
  • Ensuring the provision of effective and timely professional assistance and support by developing, drafting and maintaining databases, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets covering all media
  • Ensuring that the Country Office has a well-maintained social media platform with strong performance, growth and engagement indicators.
  • Ensuring that the Country Office’s contact list of individuals, groups and stakeholders (Government, UN, civil society, development partners, private sector, academia and media) is maintained and further developed.
  • Visiting field sites regularly to document beneficiary needs and success stories for donors, stakeholders, mainstream media and social media.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have proven professional work experience in communications, print and broadcast media, public relations and/ or interactive digital media. You will have previous experience of developing and supporting with the implementation of a communications strategy.

In addition to this, you will have social media and content creation skills alongside proven experience working in working with Government, UN, development partners, media, and research agencies. You must be confident and fully conversant in English, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Programmes (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) is an additional asset.

Strong experience in working with the development or private sector in terms of media promotion and liaison is advantageous alongside a relevant qualification in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.

About our offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from BDT 1,138,284 – BDT 1,302,300 per annum (A higher increment maybe available subject to an ongoing pay review, depending on experience.)
