The Opportunity

The Communications Assistant will be part of the team implementing the “Literate Village” Project. S/he will work under the supervision of the Communications Lead in Cairo, in collaboration with the project team, and the Communications Department of Save the Children. The Communications Assistant will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the project’s communications plan in Minia governorate. S/he will be responsible for the documentation of field eventualities and actualities, operation of the internal LV communications systems, and the conduction of various reporting and visibility activities. The position also includes photography tasks, administrative follow-up of protocols & procedures, and delivery of training as necessary.

Essential:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

⦁ Bachelor’s level degree in a relevant subject (Communications, Journalism, Media or the PR industry or equivalent field experience).
⦁ 2-3 years of experience
⦁ Photography: Ability to take high-quality photos and edit them.
⦁ Knowledge of communications material production process, including outputs such as success stories and photos, among others.
⦁ Excellent knowledge of photography and photo editing.
⦁ Evidence of strong verbal and written communications skills in both languages.
⦁ Motivated and able to work independently, meeting tight deadlines and prioritising tasks as necessary.
⦁ Organized and able to manage large volumes of data and media assets.
⦁ Excellent interpersonal skills & strong attention to details.
⦁ Capacity and willingness to be flexible and agile, carrying out regular field visits or travel to project sites.
⦁ Creative and innovative, able to conceptualize new ways of utilizing media assets, including through campaigns, community contests, and other initiatives.
⦁ Passion to empower lives and transform communities through education.
⦁ Commitment to aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children’s mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
⦁ Design skills & knowledge of design packages, such as InDesign/Photoshop/Lightroom/Premiere.
⦁ Experience in a humanitarian/NGO and/or Development context and at least 1 year of experience in an administrative position.
