Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Communications Intern to join our team. The intern will play a vital role in enhancing our digital presence, engaging our audience, and spreading awareness about our cause through effective social media management and compelling blog content.

Responsibilities:

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and implement social media strategies across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Create engaging content, including graphics, captions, and posts, to increase our reach and impact.
  • Monitor social media channels, engage with our audience, and respond to queries.

Blog Editing and Content Creation:

  • Assist in the development and editing of blog posts.
  • Ensure content aligns with our mission and voice.
  • Research and stay informed on relevant topics and news related to modern slavery and human trafficking.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Track social media engagement and report on performance metrics.
  • Use insights to optimize future content strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and analytics tools.
  • Passionate about human rights and social justice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Position Description

The Free the Slaves internship program is a formal effort to develop and train future leaders of the anti-slavery movement. We seek to provide each participant with training and hands-on experience in various facets of anti-slavery programming. We encourage students to arrange academic credit as Free the Slaves internships offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization and close supervision by FTS staff. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements. In addition, interns are provided with a one-time stipend after the end of their internship.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Digital Engagement.
