Chemonics seeks a communications and public relations consultant for the ongoing USAID Frontier Health Markets Engage project in India. Building on over 30 years of USAID investment, FHM Engage focuses on strengthening local health markets by addressing the root causes of market failures in the core market functions to create the necessary behavior change that catalyzes supply and demand and supports sustainable change. In India FHM Engage is working to improve gender equality and women’s economic empowerment by catalyzing market based partnerships to improve access to women’s healthcare interventions which can enable young girls and women to continue their career aspirations.

The FHM Engage India communications and public relations consultant will be responsible for creating a dissemination plan to report out FY2023 and FY2024 deliverables under the activity and for developing a communications plan for a large external event taking place in March 2024. S/He will also oversee communications activities across the project geographic areas, local partners and grantees, and technical reports, during the consultancy period. S/He will be responsible for ensuring quality control of all project reports and deliverables to USAID and project counterparts. This position will be based in New Delhi or Mumbai, India. The consultancy is for a period of 60 days between January 15th, 2024, to March 15th 2024. The number of days for this consultancy period of tasks and deliverables will be up to 25 days. The consultancy has the potential to transition into a full time role subject to USAID approvals and performance during the period. Responsibilities include:

  • Design a FY 24 project communications strategy in coordination with the Chief of Party and technical team and in line with the project work plan to maximize project communications efforts and ensure lessons learned, innovations, and best practices from FY2023 and FY2024 are properly captured and shared.
  • Develop a targeted communications and marketing plan around a formal external event taking place in March 2024.
  • Responsible for the delivery of success stories, presentation materials, posters, media outputs, videos, and other strategic communications materials during the consultancy period.
  • Identify and address communication needs among all program activities and effectively report impact of interventions.
  • Ensure all communications materials are developed in compliance with the project Branding and Marking Plan as well as USAID’s branding and marking rules and regulations.
  • Respond to USAID data requests and additional reporting needs as requested.
  • Assist in hiring a PR agency and a full-time communications lead to take over FHM Engage India communications at the end of the consultancy period.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or comparable degree) in communications or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible work experience in communications and/or reporting
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English and Vernacular (Hindi)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide timely deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with project partners, government counterparts, USAID, and other donor-funded programs
  • Knowledge of USAID marking and branding guidelines and style manuals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, particularly Word and Excel
