OVERVIEW

The role of the Communications and Learning Coordinator is to provide leadership in both design and execution of the Response Innovation Lab’s internal and external Communications and Learning Strategy in Uganda. He/she will play a key role in building and communicating a strong evidence-base around innovations that work in emergency contexts and spotlight the work of local innovators in the refugee response.

We are looking for a creative story teller who is passionate about creating powerful human-interest stories and ready to experiment with non-traditional ways of communicating with stakeholders.

The Communications and Learning Coordinator will need to be a team player that will support a rich portfolio of innovation projects and a strong contributor to the Response Innovation Lab’s unique brand as a hosted entity of Save the Children with a unique value proposition in Uganda.

THE ROLE

Key areas of accountability include:

  • Communications and externally-facing Learning
  • Internal communications, learning and Knowledge Management

To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:

  • At Least a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, arts, social sciences, or any related field. Master’s Degree desirable
  • At Least a Minimum of five years of relevant experience in advocacy, communications, events management, and/or media relations
  • International development or humanitarian sector experience
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to tailor products to audience.
  • Proven experience with developing communication plans
  • Proven experience collecting content in the field through visits and interviews and engaging with a diversity of stakeholders
  • Experience producing content for social media and digital platforms
  • Experience organising events
  • Eagerness to build content outside of traditional humanitarian field and to propose non-traditional communications approaches
