Panagora Group seeks a full-time Communication Specialist to work on the USAID-funded Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) cooperative agreement. The goal of PQM+ is to strengthen health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by improving medical product quality assurance systems and expanding the supply of quality-assured medicines and medical products. The Communications Associate will support the program under the leadership of the Senior Communications Manager. This position works closely with PQM+ headquarters staff, field-based staff, and USP’s global communications department to produce high-quality products that capture the program’s achievements and raise its visibility. We will consider applicants at either the Associate or Specialist level per the qualifications below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with PQM+ technical and field teams as well as USP communications staff to write a variety of materials, such as success stories and newsletters, to clearly explain and highlight the program’s activities and impact.
  • Develop social media posts with strong visuals, such as photos or graphics. Schedule posts via Hootsuite to optimize reach and views. Monitor audience engagement and report analytics to inform strategies to expand PQM+’s social media reach.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of program events, such as webinars and presentations.
  • Design and format newsletters, invitations, and other materials for electronic distribution.
  • Update and expand the program’s photo and visuals library.
  • Support a variety of communications tasks as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the program achieves its communications goals.
  • Build good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure communications products comply with PQM+, USAID, and USP requirements and meet quality standards.

Requirements:

Communications Associate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Communications, Journalism, English, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing and producing a variety of written and digital communications materials.
  • Proven experience using social media (i.e., Twitter and/or LinkedIn) and a social media management platform (i.e., Sprout Social or Hootsuite) in a professional setting.
  • Excellent writing skills. Experience writing success stories or similar communications products in a professional setting.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail. Well-organized with demonstrated multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience using email marketing software such as Constant Contact in a professional setting. Ability to format content, including visuals, using the software.

Communications Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Communications, Journalism, English, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing and producing a variety of written and digital communications materials.
  • Proven experience (at least 1.5-2 years) using social media (i.e., Twitter and/or LinkedIn) and a social media management platform (i.e., Sprout Social or Hootsuite) in a professional setting with a measurable increase in audience.
  • Excellent writing skills. Professional experience writing success stories or similar communications products.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail. Well-organized with demonstrated multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong experience using email marketing software such as Constant Contact in a professional setting. Ability to format content, including visuals, using the software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a USAID-funded project or USAID implementing partner strongly preferred.
  • Experience with graphic design software, such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop, strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with USAID marking and branding and communications requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience with global health, regulatory affairs, or health systems strengthening preferred.
  • Copyediting and proofreading skills (including knowledge of AP Style) preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently to produce high-quality products.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment, with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, and with content written by both native and non-native English speakers.
