Handicap International that runs its program under the operating name Humanity & Inclusion (HI) seeks for the Communication & Reporting Officer is based in Mae Sot

PROJECT HISTORY

Handicap International, now operating under the name Humanity & Inclusion (HI), is a non-profit independent and impartial aid organization working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict and disaster. HI works in emergency, post-emergency reconstruction or rehabilitation, chronic crises and development settings.

HI works alongside persons with disabilities and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. HI works to meet the needs and defend the rights of children, women and men with disabilities.

Since its creation in 1982, HI has gone on to work in around 60 countries worldwide, for the benefit of several million people.

In Thailand, HI started working in 1984 and currently implements activities for Burmese refugees along the Thailand-Myanmar border under three thematic areas: Rehabilitation, Disability & Social Inclusion (DSI) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

HI Thailand has three main pillars of intervention within the Myanmar/Thailand Program:

• Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) including Explosive Ordnance/Mine Risk Education,

• Inclusion of persons with disabilities with Disability & Social Inclusion (DSI),

• Health and Rehabilitation with project covering physical and functional rehabilitation.

The projects are supported by the European Union, UNHCR, Fondation de France and the US Government (BPRM).

JOB DESCRIPTION: Communication & Reporting Officer

MISSIONS

1. Influence & Communication

1.1. Leads the development of HI MYTH program’s communication plan in Thailand

1.2. Utilize internal and external communication platforms including social media channels to build broader awareness of the Program’s activities, lessons learned, and results. Assist with editing, layout, design, and formatting of deliverables and project communications materials

1.3. In collaboration with Teammates and strategic partners, identify compelling storylines and success stories that can be developed into communications products. Match storylines with the most fitting communication products (e.g., written success story, infographic)

1.4. Develop a communications calendar that coordinates the release of project and coordinated partner communication products with key events and recognition days such as International Women’s Day, International Day for the Persons with Disabilities, Earth Day etc.

1.5. In collaboration with the Senior MEAL Officer, Communication & Reporting Officer supports production and development of IEC materials, MEAL materials (fact sheets, infographics etc) and any other relevant documents (guidelines, policies, tool kits etc.)

1.6. Be a contact point for responding to queries from external stakeholders and arranging meetings stakeholders in coordination with the team to be involved

1.7. Collects, designs and delivers Thailand program monthly inputs to the Asia Direction Newsletter

1.8. Present HI’s work in external events and with donors and other stakeholders, when assigned by the Line Manager

1.9. Participate to communication working groups and forums

2. Reporting

2.1. Designs and updates Annual Reporting Calendar and ensures timely submission to internal and external sources

2.2. Supports the Project teams in drafting external and internal reports, including donor reports, as well as reports to the RTG

2.3. Supports in drafting documents, lessons learnt, best practices, case studies as shared by the Project Officers or as captured during field visits.

2.4. Facilitates production of monthly Sitrep, in close collaboration with management team and Country Manager

2.5. Gathers information from project managers, HR and administration and submit reports to Government (MOI, MOL)

3. Strategy & Business development

3.1. Contributes to MyTh programme operational strategy (StratOp)

3.2. Facilitates the proposal development process, in collaboration with PMs, for the continuity and/or expansion of the projects

Qualification Required:

Education: Degree from any of the following fields; Communications, International studies, international relations, international law, Political science, or other related courses.

Technical Skills & Cross Cutting Skills:

  • Fluent English and Thai writing and speaking is mandatory.

  • Proficiency in documentation, communication and information dissemination.

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office and infographic creation.

  • Knowledge on project cycle management, and reporting/proposal writing is a plus advantage.

Language skills: Fluent in English and Thai language.

Behavioral Skills:

  • Ability to work within a multi-cultural team

  • Awareness and sensitivity regarding disability and inclusion

JOB CONDITIONS:

Local work contract, fixed duration contract (potential to be extended)
