Project: Meeting Urgent Needs of Children and Families in War-Affected Communities: Localized Approaches Towards Integrated CP, Education and MHPSS services

Start date: ASAP

End date: 20 working days

Location: Ukraine (Home-based)

Total budget: Up to $3,000 USD

Purpose

War Child Alliance is seeking an experienced and qualified communications consultant to support the creation and design of visibility materials. The consultant will be responsible for developing visually appealing and effective materials that improve the project’s visibility and engagement. This includes aligning the designs with the project’s goals, ensuring consistency with branding guidelines, and creating content that resonates with our target audience. The consultant will also be expected to incorporate feedback from the project team to refine and finalize the materials, ensuring they effectively communicate our message and objectives.

Background

War Child works to improve the psychosocial well-being of children affected by conflict. We empower children in everything we do, working to tap into their inner strength through our creative and engaging approach. Our mission is to protect, educate, and stand up for the rights of children living through and recovering from war. We deliver vital child protection, education, and psychosocial support to help children rebuild their lives.

War Child is currently implementing a project funded by OCHA aimed at meeting the urgent needs of children and their caregivers in war-affected communities of Ukraine. This project focuses on providing life-saving information and assistance, and ensuring dignified access to quality child protection, education, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services. Localized and community-based approaches will be deployed, focusing on addressing trauma, distress, and child protection risks in community, kindergarten, and school settings.

Key Activities and Deliverables

Key activities and deliverables for this consultancy include:

  • Produce and design visibility materials such as banners, project flyers, and posters.
  • Present design concepts to the project team and incorporate feedback.
  • Finalize and produce high-quality, print-ready, and digital versions of the materials.

Qualifications

  • Degree in communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in international humanitarian or non-profit organizations.
  • Proven experience in developing and designing visibility materials for international projects.
  • Familiarity with health sector communications, particularly in mental health and psychosocial support, is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Ukrainian.
  • Strong presentation, preparation, and delivery skills.
  • Dynamic team player with strong organizational skills, and a supportive collaborator.
  • Flexible, hands-on, and highly motivated.
  • Affinity with War Child’s mandate, mission, and core values (Impact, Creativity, Inspiration, and Integrity).

Ownership and copyright of all data, drafts, and final products will be the sole and exclusive property of War Child Alliance. All materials produced under this agreement are considered proprietary and confidential.
