Communication Consultant TORs – Malawi Country Office

Background

Through our programming, emergency responses and advocacy, we put the most vulnerable children first, tackling the barriers to survival, learning and protection.

In Malawi, we have 32 active programmes/project across 24 districts.

Communicating our mandate, results, and children’s needs are crucial towards the achievement our goals. Such communications enhance visibility and reputation.

Objectives:

This consultancy will provide communications support to assist the Malawi Country Office package and disseminate information. Under the guidance of the Campaigns and Communications Manager, the consultant will develop communication products to promote and raise the profile of Save the Children in among target stakeholders.

Deliverables:

  1. Country Office Strategic Plan Versions: Provided with information, the consultant shall design an eight paged and a one paged version of the country office strategy
  2. Thematic Strategic Goal Briefs and Slidedecks : Provided with information the consultant shall produce, 5 (five) thematic briefs on country strategic goals, and branded slidedecks for the same
  3. Quarterly Success Videos: – the consultant shall produce 5 thematic (Education, Health, Protection, Rights and Humanitarian) short video (2min each). In addition, the consultant will produce 1 (3min) overall video summarizing Save the Children Interventions and Successes in that quarter. This shall be done for the two remaining quarters of 2022 (July to Sept and Oct to December). The products shall be required by the 10th of the last month of every quarter
  4. Quarterly Success Stories: a total of 10 success stories per quarter, each not more that 900words with accompanying pictures. This shall be done for the two remaining quarters of 2022 (July to Sept and Oct to December). The products shall be required by the 10th of the last month of every quarter
  5. Monthly Facebook Streaming Services – the consultant shall track six agreed successes, produce and edit 10min videos for each. The edited videos will be streamed monthly.
  6. Design Project Specific Profiles – Provided with information, the consultant shall design 2 paged brochures for the 32 active projects – these shall be submitted to Save the Children 20days after signing contract agreement
  7. Design Two-paged Summaries Innovations – these shall be submitted to Save the Children 20days after signing contract agreement
  8. Capture Pictures and Develop a Picture Library – A picture library shall be submitted to save the children by 30th September 2022. The consultant shall include existing pictures in the library. Save the Children shall share the existing pictures.

Education and experience

Education:

  • A Maters Degree in journalism, communications or other field.

Experience:

  • 10 years of work experience in the field of media relations, journalism or/and communication;
  • Proven excellent copy writing skills, and well as graphic designing, photography and videography skills

Competencies:

  • Outstanding communication, networking and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external actors
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities
