Communication and Social Media Manager

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. BDF core mission is to provide access to education, health, and safety services to the most vulnerable children living in urban slums and construction site camps in Thailand.

Over the last 10 years of grassroots work originating in Chiang Mai, Baan Dek Foundation established key partnerships with construction companies and real estate developers to build sustainable impact in construction site camps and improve the lives and access to basic services of construction workers and their children.

In 2018, BDF and UNICEF Thailand, developed a Framework for Action, a set of 12 actionable recommendations for construction companies, published in the Building Futures in Thailand.

Following the publication of this framework for action, BDF developed and piloted with pioneer construction companies practical tools for construction companies to operationalise and ease the integration of the framework for action into companies business activities.

Through the recent launch of the Building Social Impact initiative, BDF would like to scale up and reach a wide adoption of this framework and tools in the construction sector. https://www.buildingsocialimpact.org/eng

Communication and Social Media Manager will have an essential role in the success of the Building Social Impact Initiative, ensuring its promotion and visibility and contributing to its adoption by the construction sector.

Job Description:

Job Title: Communication and Social Media Manager

Type of Contract: Full-time employment position for 1-year (with possibility of extension)

Department: Impact and Innovation

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Expected Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

Communication and Social Media Manageris responsible for developing and implementing marketing communication strategies and comprehensive supporting plans to achieve audience specific marketing and communication goals linked with the Building Social Impact Initiative. The person works closely with various staff to carry out the plans for the Building Social Impact Initiative and other marketing communication strategies. He/she is responsible for the management and development of the BSI website and social media platforms. He/she is leading the development of targeted communication and marketing campaigns to reach targeted audiences and promote the BSI initiative. In her/his role, interest and skills of visual communication creation, such as video, and web design will be an important asset.

Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Use market research, develop and translate concise and quantifiable goals into marketing communication strategies and activities.
  • Support Strategic development of BSI Advocacy Communication Guideline and implementing its content.
  • Create the contents in English and Thai.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (advertising, media relations, web, publications, decision support, development, community relations, legislative relations) to solidify comprehensive, strategic marketing plans.
  • Implement comprehensive marketing communication plans for assigned audiences in a precise effective manner, to include writing, editing, designing, obtaining approvals, managing photo sessions, etc.
  • Organize and coordinate communication campaigns, launch events, webinars.
  • Deal with social media platforms.
  • Present materials through graphic presentations and other communication media.
  • Elaborate visual communication materials.
  • Ensure all products are of the highest technical standards in the areas of content, design and impact.

Qualifications

Nationality: Thai nationality

Language requirements: Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Thai and English

Studies: Master or Bachelor’s degree in communication, graphic design, digital marketing field or the equivalent in progressive work experience.

Working knowledge Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, After Effects, Premiere, etc.), web design knowledge

Professional experience in building marketing communication strategies (min. 3 years of experience)

Other skills and competencies:

  • Creative and meticulous, ability to work independently with a deadline, ability to provide and receive positive criticism in a constructive manner, highly motivated, flexible and interested in humanitarian missions.
  • Committed to social work/child welfare, dedication for non-profit work, communication and human relations skills.
  • Teamwork ability, flexibility on working hours, tolerance & human values, highly motivated, positive energy & spirit.

Working hours: Full time – Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings

Salary & Compensation: To be defined based on experience and qualifications
