We are currently looking for a Commercialisation Engineer to support our projects with the European Space Agency in the United Kingdom.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • The European Space Agency (ESA) has set a high priority on boosting the commercialization of the European space sector. As part of ESA’s new directorate of Commercialisation, Industry and Procurement (CIP) you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Liaison with ESA’s Business Incubation Centres (BICs). In particular, supporting the BIC centre management in fulfilling contractual obligations of various ESA BICs through high-quality administration, record-keeping and reporting;
  • Acting as a point of contact for ESA BIC incubatee companies for the facilitation of matching these companies with ESA technical experts;
  • Support the provision of ESA Space Solutions (S2) and CIP related promotion and training activities taking place in the ESA Member States;
  • Support and act as a point of contact to the ESA Broker Network in their efforts to address the non-space sector;
  • Develop partnerships with universities for the development of new technologies and services;
  • Proactively maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all actions and ensuring that information is shared across the ESA BIC management team. Particularly, maintaining a Microsoft Sharepoint-based reporting system;
  • Other actions as required on a case-by-case basis, to support other stakeholders, internal and external to ESA

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and relevant experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or similar domain;
  • Experience in the management of technology and innovation;
  • Sound knowledge of the overall space applications market;
  • Good knowledge of relevant space technologies (e.g. materials, sensors, robotics, software, etc) and satellite systems (i.e. satellite communications, navigation, and earth observation);
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • High standard of document drafting;
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage
