Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Children’s Mobile Intervention Services (CMIS) Intervention Specialist works with youth and family who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis and provide crisis intervention, solution-focused interventions, motivational interviewing, behavior management, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques for the purpose of identifying, assessing, treating and stabilizing the situation while reducing risk and assessing the safety needs of the youth and family. The Intervention Specialist helps the family develop a risk management/safety plan if they do not already have one. The Intervention Specialist, with the consent and in collaboration with the youth and family, guides the family through the crisis planning process that is in line with the family’s present stage of readiness for change. Services are provided in home, school, and community settings as needed and all required documentation will be maintained. The Intervention Specialist is supervised by the Clinical Team Supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a mental health discipline, such as clinical psychology, mental health counseling, clinical social work, or other clinically related discipline. The degree must have prepared the student for provision of clinical services via a practicum and internship experience provided in a clinical setting with children and adolescents, with on-site supervision. Online degrees without direct clinical supervision will not be accepted. A minimum of two-year’s post-Master’s experience providing clinical services to children and adolescents is required.

Active Clinical Licensure in Pennsylvania: as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (with clinical social work degree), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Psychologist, is preferred but not required.
