Cloud Architect

Your Role: 

Asda’s Technology Strategy & Architecture function is looking for an experienced Cloud Solution Architect to join our growing Cloud Architecture Team. You’ll be working within an established team developing Asda’s cloud platform offering, supporting our business strategy and adoption of brand-new technology. 

This is an incredibly exciting time as our business enters a new phase in its history. A significant investment in the technology and cloud landscape is occurring and you would be part of this unique opportunity to help Asda leapfrog its peers through a new period of technology led design. 

Successful candidates will report to the Enterprise Architect for Technology and Cloud while being authoritative leaders and trusted advisors of architectural design and process in an incredibly fast-paced and delivery focused program. 

About You: 

• A strong foundational knowledge of Enterprise IT and operating natively within cloud
• A self-starter and passionate regards cloud technologies, able to create and deliver new process and technologies to advance Asda’s use of cloud. 
• Extensive experience of cloud design principles, modern application architectures and underlying platform technologies. Ideally with specialism within Azure, GCP and Kubernetes  
• Able to pivot focus to work on a varied portfolio, blending design of core foundational cloud architectures with bespoke retail focused technology solutions. 
• Experience of cloud governance and managing effective use. 
• Ability to approach design with timeliness, cost and quality factors in mind.  Risk identification and mitigation, quantification and qualification non-functional and functional requirements. 
• Conform to and develop an evolving infrastructure, cloud and security governance framework with IT focused artifacts such as standards, landscapes and designs. 
• Excellent written skills and the ability to clearly distil complex architectures into consumable documents and views. 
• Knowledge of formal architectural frameworks, ability to follow their practice as well as think outside the box and roll up your sleeves should delivery require. 

Please note this role has no direct reports, however there could be a possibility to coach or mentor other employees.
