Job Overview: The IRC in Oakland’s Community Health and Wellness programs ensure that newly resettled refugees have access to psycho-social and case management support to serve their adjustment needs as well as ensures additional culturally and linguistically sensitive mental health referral support services are available. This includes implementation of mental health screening protocols and the referring of clients for emotional distress, torture, trauma and gender-based violence to relevant partners. The Community Health and Wellness programs ensures the creation of a culture of trauma informed care throughout Oakland services. The Clinical Advisor will be responsible to provide consultation and supervision for the program. The Psycho-social program is funded through Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Service’s Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) program.

Major Responsibilities:

· Conduct group supervision

· Conduct individual supervision as needs present

· Provide documentation review and training as appropriate

· Provide consultation and training on various topics

· Administrative responsibilities

· Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: H&W Coordinator
Position provide Clinical supervision to: Health and Wellness Promoters, Clinical Caseworker, Program Manager

Job Requirements:

· Graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or an equivalent field of mental health study at minimum

· California licensed to provide clinical mental health services required (LMFC, LCSW, Licensed Psychologist/ Psy.D etc.)

· 4+ years of relevant work experience in Social Service, Mental Health or international development fields Experience should include a minimum of 2 years developing and managing programming serving isolated communities including but not limited to, survivors of GBV, youth at risk or displaced populations

· Experience designing and implementing psychosocial and preventive programming

· Demonstrated expertise serving multi-cultural and/or underserved populations

· Knowledge of DSM-V-R, ability to assess mental health concerns and experience managing referrals for mental health concerns to community partners

· Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and programs in clinical settings preferred

· Understanding of community integration, resettlement and migration trauma

· Training and experience in establishing trauma informed care with diverse and underserved communities

· Demonstrated understanding of contemporary race and gender issues as they relate to refugee resettlement

· Experience providing group and individual supervision

· Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment

· Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member

· Fluency in written and spoken English; Fluency in additional language relevant to current refugee populations preferred (Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Tigrinya, Burmese, Spanish, Amharic etc.)

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
