MannionDaniels

Position Description:

MannionDaniels’ Conflict, Environment and Resilience Practice Area engages with governments, donors, and organisations to (1) address the root causes of conflict and vulnerability and (2) have a net positive impact on society, the environment, and the global economy by tackling climate change, protecting biodiversity, delivering social value and embedding sustainability. Climate change is arguably the most pressing environmental challenge many societies and their natural environments are currently facing. The rapid and significant changes in temperature and precipitation that are now being experienced over large parts of the globe are likely to impact a range of key environmental processes. These will affect the habitability and productivity of terrestrial and marine environments with negative consequences for humans as well as domestic and wild animals. Climate change is therefore a priority focus for both individual governments and the wider international community.

We intend to create a pool of Climate Change Experts to support existing programmes and business development efforts on a consulting basis when needs are identified. Assignments will be based on requirements and shared with the consultant pool on an ongoing basis. To this end, we are seeking qualified candidates for potential long-term and short-term opportunities in climate mitigation and adaptation projects and/or integrating climate change into a broader range of development projects. Key areas of expertise could include any of the following:

• Policy development, research and analysis, interpretation and dissemination

• Climate scenario modelling

• Climate risk assessment, planning and preparedness

• Design and implementation of mitigation and adaptation interventions

• Carbon markets and emission reduction frameworks (REDD+)

• Green infrastructure

• Climate security and stability

• Climate finance

• Economics of climate change

• Carbon accounting

Key Competencies:

Candidates will be expected to provide technical expertise and guidance across all stages of the programme/project cycle from design and development, through implementation to monitoring and evaluation. Depending on the nature of the consultancy this may involve any of the following tasks:

• Proposal development

• Programme design

• Direct technical assistance

• Research and analysis

• Capacity building

• Evaluation and reporting

• Review of proposals and reports

• Knowledge management and dissemination

• Management of grants and funds

Please review the attached job description for full scope of role including required experience and qualification.
