International Alert is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our international team as Climate and Peace Advocacy Advisor.

This comes at an exciting time for the organisation as we are stepping up our advocacy and influencing work on the climate, natural resource management, environment and peacebuilding nexus. Are you going to going to lead our influencing strategy on this nexus?

Reporting to the Head of Climate Crisis and Natural Resource Management, the Climate and Peace Advocacy Advisor will drive International Alert’s global influencing on the climate, natural resource management, environment, and peacebuilding nexus. You will work with senior management, the advocacy & communications team, fundraising colleagues and, most importantly, country teams to increase our voice and reach key change makers.

We are looking for somebody bringing knowledge, experience, and passion on climate change and/or peacebuilding issues and who has a vision on how International Alert can raise urgency and action on climate related security risks. You have advocacy skills and are confident speaking with decision-makers of different backgrounds and levels of seniority. You are a collaborator and keen to work with and support colleagues in international and country offices while always ensuring we are amplifying the voices of communities and peacebuilders. As well as a minimum of three years’ experience in policy or advocacy, you will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a strong understanding of climate change and environmental issues and able to contextualise this to peace and conflict.

  • Salary: We will be happy to disclose the salary and applicable benefits to applicants as part of this process, however, please kindly note that this will vary according to the location of the appointed candidate and therefore it is not possible to include full details here. We endeavour to offer a competitive salary and benefit package applicable to the location of the appointed candidate.
  • Contract duration: 2 years but the possibility of extension
  • Location: London, The Hague and Nairobi
