Contract Purpose

Background:

As part of the development projects undertaken by ACU, the Civil Awareness Project is being implemented in northwest Syria. This project marks an advanced stage of the civil awareness program initiated ACU in early 2020. The program aims to build community trust and enhance the concepts of belonging and citizenship within society. Therefore, the role of the trainer is not only to implement the training process but also to create an atmosphere of collective understanding and establish societal concepts and values that contribute to building an aware generation capable of initiating change and innovation in Syrian society. The trainer works directly under the supervision of the Project Manager.

Objectives:

  • Disseminate civil awareness concepts among various segments of society, especially youth.
  • Support community and cultural initiatives and facilitate youth participation in interactive activities.

Key Responsibilities

Main deliverables:

  • 90 trainees received training in civil awareness.
  • A team of trained and empowered youth to become community leaders in the future of Syria.

Main Tasks

  • Designing training material.
  • Assessing the cognitive progress of trainees.
  • Preparing pre- and post-tests.
  • Implementing 24 civil awareness training sessions for 90 beneficiaries, averaging (4 sessions * 6 groups * 15 trainees) according to the following themes:
    • The empathy model.
    • Human rights.
    • Culture and cultural dialogue.
    • Civil society and its spaces.
    • Identity.
  • Implementing 24 advanced training sessions for a team of facilitators within the Learning Journey program, covering the following topics:
    • Critical thinking.
    • Scientific research methodology.
    • Adult learning patterns.
    • Development and political concepts.
    • Social relationships.
    • Ethics and values.
    • Self-awareness – Social self-awareness.
  • Implementing 24 follow-up sessions for practical application within the Learning Journey program.
  • Supervising and monitoring community activities (10 in total) required to be implemented during the project.
  • Continuous coordination and communication to achieve the maximum benefit from the training.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

  • Must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in political science, psychology, sociology, or any other relevant field.
  • Must have at least 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience working with organizations.
  • Tangible and relevant professional experience in revolutionary work, community initiatives, and civil activities.
  • Good understanding of the Syrian context and knowledge of local community conditions.
  • Experience in training, workshop preparation, and similar or related materials.
  • Experience in negotiation, conflict resolution, and debate management.
  • Arabic: Native language.
  • English: Knowledge of context-related terminology.
