OVERVIEW

The Child Rights Governance (CRG) Specialist will use their in-depth contextual understanding, technical expertise, and relationship building skills to provide a critical link for Save the Children Lebanon, strengthening our technical offer at the national level. The role will contribute to building capacity and fostering networks across Lebanon.

THE ROLE

This role is a crucial, cross cutting position, straddling all sectors of implementation to ensure Save the Children Lebanon’s work is sensitive and responsive to children’s rights. The CRG specialist will support the strategic development of CRG interventions and support technical teams and area teams to implement programmes that are CRG sensitive and responsive. It will also support national advocacy and influencing and will contribute to strategic partnerships with local, national, and international stakeholders. It will also support resource mobilisation efforts. The CRG specialist provides input into the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact, while sharing learning across the country programme, and guiding the area teams to ensuring quality of our programmes from a CRG perspective. This role includes a strong focus on internal coordination and external representation on priority issues including empowering children to claim their political and civil rights, promoting civil society voice and space, public financial management and how it impacts public investment in children. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

To be a strong supporter and advocate for children on this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • Master’s degree in human rights, child rights or other relevant social science degree
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of CRG principles and methodologies
  • strong understanding of Programme quality in the design and implementation phases
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and policymakers to ensure they reflect the needs of children in Save the Children Lebanon, including relevant child protection clusters, working groups and technical fora
  • A minimum of 4 years in a technical role in child rights or child participation for an NGO or UN agency
  • Proven experience leading child rights programming, including delivering training Understanding of Human Rights/Child Rights and Governance sectors in the region
  • Familiar with some or all the following tools: political economy analyses, gender analyses, child rights situation analyses, and participatory research methodologies. Also familiar with human rights led approaches to programming (and particularly child rights programming approaches).
  • Fluent in English and Arabic and high level of English writing skills
