The Child Protection Technical Advisor will provide technical leadership for Child Protection in Lebanon to define and deliver our strategic ambition. The role will leverage in-depth contextual understanding, technical expertise and relationship building skills to lead strategy development and the technical design and implementation of high quality child protection programmes that deliver the required change for children in both emergency and development contexts

THE ROLE

This role will also support national advocacy and influencing, while driving strategic partnerships for new business development. It supports the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact, while sharing learning across our programmes, teams and partners. This person will also work closely operations colleagues and with partners in Lebanon, strengthening their capacity and building ownership and agency of local organisations and groups. It also includes a focus on external representation on priority issues including ending all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children, and the strengthening of an effective and sustainable child protection system. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

To be a strong supporter and advocate for children on this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • Strong Technical Leadership ability in child protection
  • Have a strong understanding in Programme quality in the design and implementation phases of child protection programmes and commitment to integrating child protection into other programmes e.g. health, education, social protection
  • Commitment to strengthening the capacity of Child Protection staff and partners in country.
  • Ability to influence key regional stakeholders and policy-makers to ensure they address the protection needs of children in the countries where we work.
  • At least 7 years’ experience of leading the design and implementation of humanitarian and development programmes in Child Protection
  • Understanding of the Child Protection sector in Lebanon
  • Familiar with child protection systems, with social work and the role of the social service workforce at all levels, with approaches such as case management, positive parenting programmes, mental health & PSS, community level child protection and with integration of child protection with education and other sectors.
  • Fluent in English and high level of English writing skills.
