Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of a comprehensive programmes strategy to deliver the charity vision and KPIs.
  • Line management and development of programme team including directors and heads of programmes.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of a portfolio of impactful programmes.
  • Lead on the look, shape and training needs of a portfolio of charity programmes, as determined by the Chief Executive, overseeing the design and delivery of collateral and pricing with relevant Heads of Programmes.
  • Oversee planning and implementation of national campaigns with the assistance of campaigns and marcoms teams.
  • Work with programme teams to ensure training on our programmes is delivered both internally and externally.
  • Oversee the development and regular review of programme policies and procedures to ensure legal and effective delivery of programmes in accordance with charity vision and KPIs.
  • Oversee collaboration between product and programme teams to ensure charity products meet requirements of programme design and delivery.
  • Work with the fundraising leads to identify elements of programmes suitable for fundraising and oversee the programme team input into and support of funding applications.
  • Development of organisation advocacy plan and representation of the organisation at high-level meetings with stakeholders.
  • Building high-level relationships with partner organisations to build the reputation of the Speakers for Schools programmes nationally.
  • Attend relevant conferences and where possible present the work of the organisation.
  • Attendance at fundraising or cultivation events to represent the programme work of the Organisation.

Other responsibilities as required according to the needs of the business, and a flexible approach to the role given the dynamic nature of the Charity as it continues to grow and develop

Skills / Experience / Knowledge

To apply for this pivotal role, you must have significant experience in building, developing and delivering impactful programmes and interventions.

You must be an exceptional communicator, skilled at conveying strategic vision, and building and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders, including those at a senior level. You must have experience in monitoring and evaluating complex programmes and reporting on key outcomes for funders.

Overall, you will be an ambassadorial, participative, values-led leader, passionate about ensuring high-quality programmes to improve outcomes for young people.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level
  • Experienced Director and experience of senior leadership within a charity setting
  • Clear understanding of youth social mobility
  • Experience of impact measurement and theory of change development
  • Programme leadership experience
  • Knowledge of programme design and planning
  • Proven experience in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in networking, partnership building and relationship management at a senior level
  • Track record of financial management skills, including budget management and planning
  • Ability to network and represent the charity at events
  • An excellent track record of building and managing a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively, fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong IT skills

Desirable

  • Project management experience Experience in implementing effecting safeguarding procedures in youth programmes Experience in working with digital products and tools to enhance and deliver programmes
