Job Description

The purpose of this Activity is to increase the percentage of Liberian children who complete primary school and meet government of Liberia learning standards. It is anticipated to be a $75 million USD activity over 5 years.

The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for the strategic direction, coordination, and management of the Activity, including oversight of financial and overall contract management. The COP will serve as the principal interlocutor with USAID and key stakeholders; development partners; the host government; civil society organizations, and relevant private sector organizations, as appropriate. The position is responsible for the overall planning of educational programming and adaptive management. The COP will ensure the Activity meets stated results as per its goal and objectives and responds to reporting requirements in a timely manner. The COP has the leadership role in coordination among various partners, subcontractors, and grantees.

Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in a social science, law, or other relevant field.

Skills and Experience:

  • 15 years of progressively responsible international experience managing similar size programs;
  • Demonstrated technical expertise managing and leading large primary education, foundational learning, institutional capacity strengthening and/or alternative learning programs;
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining relationships with a broad range of stakeholders such as host government counterparts, development partners, implementing partners, civil society organizations, and private sector entities;
  • Demonstrated experience with primary education strengthening;
  • Experience leading large multifaceted programs preferred;
  • Demonstrated capabilities in high-level strategic vision, innovative programming, and ability to lead a multidisciplinary team required;
  • Demonstrated experience with gender and social inclusion approaches required;
  • Experience working in Liberia preferred; and

Language:

Fluency in English is required.
