EY

The Opportunity

The EY Foundation is a pioneering corporate foundation. It was created in 2014 as an independent registered charity with an independent majority board and core funding and support from EY. A service agreement between EY and EY Foundation ensures good governance of the relationship and that each maximises its contribution to the endeavour. The EY Foundation and EY agreed a new increased five-year funding agreement in 2020. The charity has also been successful in raising substantial funds on top of those provided by EY.

We bring together the professional rigour, resources and convening power of a large professional services firm with the innovation and dynamism of a start- up charity. At its heart our purpose is to inspire, and support disadvantaged young people across the UK to fulfil their work potential and to work with employers and other key stakeholders to reduce barriers to work for young people and enhance their employability.

Through our Smart Futures, Our Future and Beyond Your Limits programmes, we organise accredited high-quality work experience, employability training and mentoring for disadvantaged young people. Our free half day employability workshops for schools not only inspire and guide young people to think earlier about their future employability but also create a pipeline for our other programmes.

The Accelerate programme works with Social enterprises being run by young people and provides them with the support to help them achieve sustainable growth.

Our ambition is to transform the future of young people who most need support by providing the knowledge, skills and experience needed to thrive in the workplace. This in turn will help employers and communities to thrive.

The CEO supported by the leadership team is responsible and accountable for developing and delivering our strategy and impact objectives as well as maintaining the financial and operational integrity of the Foundation. The CEO is supported by the EY Foundation Board of Trustees, who are responsible for ensuring that the organisation has the right strategy, resources, and governance to fulfil our purpose. Our Board believes passionately that our values and culture are key resources for the charity and power our impact.

A key element of the CEO role is ensuring we live our values in all that we do and that our culture continues to adapt and thrive in the light of changing contexts. The CEO will play a key role to help ensure that our team continuously evolves and reflects the young people that we support.

The charity is now well-established, operating across the UK, and is building a strong track record for its work. We have navigated the pandemic and have a number of exciting growth opportunities to further support the young people who need that support more than ever. This means that we are looking for someone with more than the technical or functional skills to do the job. We are looking for someone to lead, to grow our impact substantially, and to inspire everyone that we work with. The specification below reflects that.

To take up the critical role of CEO you will need to be engaged in, and motivated by, what we do, and the way in which we do it. EY Foundation places young people at the head and heart of all that we do and has the benefit of a vibrant staff, a strong team, a significant volunteer force and a wide range of employer partners across the UK including our core funder, EY, who also provides considerable financial and other pro bono support.
