AboveBoard is actively assisting another business to find its next Chief Executive Officer.

 

Position Scope

The CEO will be responsible for managing all aspects of our business operations and will report directly to the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading a technology platform, that is disruptive and differentiated, through commercialization and high growth. The CEO is expected to be the visionary leader of the organization, with a deep understanding of the market and the evolution of technology impact on the market. All business development, engineering, operations, and finance functions will report to the CEO.

The CEO will be responsible for refining go-to-market strategy, corporate strategy and culture that delivers long-term sustained value to the company and investors. The candidate will ideally know storage technology and applications, and be expected to scale the business, identify external partners, and champion the development and implementation of all production plans and budgets required to meet growth goals. The CEO will play an active role in product definition to ensure that the company is producing world-class, quality products that exceed market demands.

The CEO will be expected to strengthen the structure of the organization and develop a worldclass team. The CEO will need strong presentation skills to convey the vision and strategy of the Company and then drive execution. The CEO will ideally have experience leading a company through a successful liquidity event.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Board to formulate the overall growth strategy for the company, including market segmentation, go-to-market, operational requirements, personnel, and budgeting.
  • Clearly define the vision for our business, the company’s goals and objectives and implement performance measures and milestones to ensure the goals are achieved
  • Define market opportunities, identify key customers, and develop strategies to capitalize on market conditions and segment opportunities, both domestically and internationally, and capture a substantial share of the value that is created.
  • Develop KPIs and implement performance measures and milestones to ensure the goals are achieved.
  • Build, lead and manage an effective team, which is focused on growth, execution, delivery, and quality.
  • Maintain a culture of unquestioned integrity and the highest ethical standards and ensure that the entire team is committed to both the spirit and the letter of laws and regulations globally. 
  • Manage day-to-day operations with full responsibility for KPIs, and technical and commercial milestones.
  • Develop a comprehensive market persona for the company and lead this representation in the marketplace. Be a visible, outward-facing, and dynamic company representative.
  • Maintain a network of industry leaders, participate in industry events, and be a recognizable influencer in the market.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of competing technologies and companies.
  • Develop, nurture, and grow meaningful and valuable strategic relationships.
  • Develop effective governance, internal controls, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting procedures.
  • Accurately report financial results and expectations to investors and Board.
  • Perform investor presentations as needed to raise required capital and ultimately lead the company to a successful exit.
  • Maintain a culture that is mission driven, market-focused, innovative, ethical, and results-oriented.
  • Develop an effective, mutually beneficial relationship with all shareholders of the Company.

 

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as CEO, President, or P&L leader in a high-growth environment, ideally leading a company through growth to $100M and beyond.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a proven technology into new markets, generating adoption and customers, and scaling revenue profitably.
  • Experience leading businesses at scale and implementing knowledge within an entrepreneurial culture, ideally working with storage products related to mobility and energy.
  • Strong methodology for building and leading world class teams.
  • Demonstrated global business leadership and results, comfortable working in diverse international environments.
  • A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgement, and strong operational focus.
  • Metrics driven experience in lean manufacturing environments. Experience dealing with contract manufacturers and outsourcing models. 
  • Strong financial budgeting, planning and cash management experience and skills.
  • Career includes strong product development experience with transformational innovation.
  • Strong experience and credibility combined with a broad network and relationships with key decision makers within the industry in the U.S. and internationally, ideally with storage experience.
  • Career that includes experience with strategic alliances, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures is valued.
  • Strong diplomatic and negotiation skills and experience negotiating major commercial agreements with suppliers, marketing and service organizations, and customers.
  • Prior experience leading an organization through a successful liquidity event is highly beneficial.
  • Formal undergraduate education: advanced degree preferred. Ideally comfort and fluency in chemical engineering.

  • Works with the board of directors and other executives to establish short-term objectives and long-range goals, and related plans and policies.
  • Presents regular reports on the status of the company’s operations to the board of directors and to company staff.
  • Oversees the organization’s financial structure, ensuring adequate and sound funding for the mission and goals of the company.
