  • Optimize core products-improving cycle time, efficiency and throughput
  • Maintain/streamline/improve manufacturing procedures and documentation
  • Routinely train and refresh operators on procedures and best practices
  • Create and maintain data/charts/reports for all products to increase awareness and visibility
  • Use Six Sigma methods to improve efficiency and yield
  • Successfully execute customer trials in the Plant
  • Operate all equipment related to customer trials including reactors, dryers, centrifuges, filter presses, pumps, mills, etc.
  • Expertly navigate DCS system
  • Assist Shift Supervisor in completing associated paperwork
  • Participate in project/product post campaign review to identify successes and opportunities for improvement
  • Work with maintenance to overcome setup issues
  • Assist in tracking plant performance utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Fill-in Shift Supervisor as needed
  • Manage project/product development from beginning to end including the scoping, design, execution and optimization of customer processes and reporting progress during new business funnel review meetings to senior management and stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures for new product trials until project reaches commercialization stage
  • Develop effective cleaning processes and train operators on pre- and post-cleaning protocols
  • Develop FMEAs for targeted processes/equipment
  • Serve as primary customer contact and liaison for all aspects of production trials
  • Coordinate all aspects of trials with internal stakeholders, including purchasing and logistics, shipping, customer service, and QC laboratory
  • Train and supervise technicians/operators in setup, operational, and cleaning procedures
  • Execute manufacturing trials according to the published schedule
  • Monitor performance of manufacturing trial against initial estimates and present results and recommended changes during post-campaign reviews
  • Participate in process safety steering committee and conduct on-time PSM reviews and PSSRs

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • BS Chemical Engineering
  • 7 years of experience in chemical manufacturing preferred, with demonstrated experience running chemical processes including all aspects of development and execution
  • Working knowledge in project management including proficiency with project management software such as MS Project and Excel
  • Technical competence with various statistical software programs such as Minitab
  • Ability to conduct material and energy balances on process unit operations
  • Ability to assemble and effectively present ideas, concepts and proposals to all company and customer levels (Executive, Buyer, and Engineer) in a concise and professional manner
  • Strong organization, prioritization and follow-up skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented mindset as a self-starter who works well independently and understands expectations
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills that support effective decision making
