The Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS) is a co-equal, legal joint venture established in 1995 between the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), the International Republican Institute (IRI), and the National Democratic Institute (NDI). Currently, CEPPS is the holder of the Global Elections and Political Transitions (GEPT) and Democratic Elections and Political Processes (DEPP) leader with associate awards (LWA) from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and has held similar awards since its creation. To date, over $1.0 billion of funding has been awarded to CEPPS for programs in more than 60 countries. Through the DEPP mechanism, CEPPS works to empower local partners to build resilient government institutions, political parties, and electoral processes in fragile states and developing democracies.

The CEPPS Coordinator will report to the CEPPS IRI Manager and is part of a team that serves as the primary liaison with the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS). The CEPPS Coordinator will work closely with the CEPPS IRI Manager and CEPPS Advisor.

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in political science, international relations or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in international development or related field.
  • Experience with the administration of USAID or US Government grants or contracts.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office and SharePoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines and build consensus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, partner organizations and funders.
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborative, team oriented individual.
  • Knowledge of international relations and/or domestic politics preferred.
  • Working knowledge of grants administration regulations under federal government awards (e.g., USAID, Department of State, NED) preferred.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the administration of all associate awards including managing communications between CEPPS partners and with USAID. Forward and track communications, deliverables, and prior approval requests. This includes preparing program teams with the appropriate templates and documents for preparation of proposal, reporting, compliance communication and documentation and other CEPPS internal memos.
  • Supports program staff in the preparation of formal communications with USAID such as prior approval requests, response to USAID Mission comments on proposals, workplans, procurement and subawards requests and other award relevant topics.
  • Participate in the IRI CEPPS proposal development response by working with program teams and budget development, ensure compliance proposal requirements, and adherence to proposal development deadlines.
  • Assists in managing the CEPPS quarterly reporting process, including: providing program teams with most up-to-date templates; ensuring reports conform to award requirements; compiling reports and tracking reporting progress and submissions; and editing reports as needed for consistent tone, grammar, and adherence to CEPPS style and policies.
  • Creates and tracks procurement requests and approvals, and manages subaward monitoring once approved, including processing payments
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
