The role of the Central operations manager is ensure the supply chain KPIs are of the highest standard while driving team strategy and developing a growing department through a period of progressive change.

You will show cross team/retailer leadership to create new processes and drive the business forward while coping with increasing complexity. You will directly manage the Senior demand managers, work across two retailers and focus on a variety of areas at any one time. You will be at the forefront of key SC issues, cross department relationships, seasonal trends, training and team development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Team building, leadership and motivation including performance development reviews (personal and personnel) objective setting and coaching
  • Create, manage and drive long term strategic goals that will produce industry leading KPIs and outstanding service to Ocado and Morrisons customers
  • Initiate and develop relationships across the wider business through excellent communication and business level reasoning
  • Mentor and coach future talent identified in talent mapping, development plans and objective processes to shape departmental plans
  • Direct the team in times of change and provide a constant leadership in order to continue Ocado’s award winning service
  • Design and develop new processes and tools to constantly improve KPIs and working practices
  • Monitor, report and communicate success and challenges to senior management & key stakeholders
  • Develop different skills through the team and create a challenging working environment
  • Lead project sessions and direct others to maximise the output of these
  • Manage seasonal trends and events through structured processes and employee engagement
  • Control promotional strategies to ensure best practice and results
  • Create an enthusiastic and robust team structure to ensure progression and personal development opportunities

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Proven leadership qualities
  • A strong track record in an FMCG or commercial supply chain and a proven ability working within a KPI driven environment
  • Previous management experience in a challenging and fast paced environment
  • Ability to influence effectively and build constructive working relationships across the business
  • A proactive team player, polite, helpful and approachable and willing to share information, knowledge and skills with others. Ability to fit in and guide others in the team and wider business
  • Drive & enthusiasm, demonstrating ability to adapt to fast pace and rapid change and resourcefulness when faced with challenges
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining accuracy & keeping to deadlines
  • Strong business skills and commercial acumen
  • Excellent planning & organisational skills, planning and achieving results through effective change management
  • Confident decision maker who is able to work independently and on behalf of many others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent PC skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel) to at least intermediate level
