Wiltshire Police are proud of our Crime and Communications Centre, which puts our communities at the heart of everything we do, and our operators are the first point of contact for all emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.

All 101 non-emergency and 999 emergency calls across Wiltshire come into our state-of-the-art operational control room in Devizes taking more than 380,000 101 and 999 calls a year. – these calls can relate to anything from vehicle collisions, thefts of property, firearms incidents and assaults, to anti-social behavior, missing people and requests for advice or help from people at their time of need.

The role of Central Call Handling Operator is within a busy team that dealing with 101 calls received by Wiltshire Police; triaging them at first point of contact. We are looking for someone with an excellent telephone manner, who is able to assess situations quickly, able to listen, ask appropriate questions and offer reassurance and advice to the public, whilst also remaining calm and focused.

Vacancy

There is one fixed term, part time position available for a period of one year. Offering approx, 25.5hrs per week on a rolling shift pattern.

Shift Pattern – working hours.

Our Central Call Handling team work a range of hours from 0800 – midnight and we are looking for individuals that are flexible and able to cover a shift pattern like the example provided.

Salary

The basic salary is £20,709 – £21,816 pro-rata and may also attract 12.5% unsocial hours payments dependent on shift pattern worked.
