How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne

The Qualified Early Childhood Educator provides high quality education and care for children accessing the service. The Educator in this position will be guided by the Educational Leader, and shares responsibility for ensuring that the program reflects current best practice, and meets the individual needs of each child participating in the program. Programs will be informed by ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’ Early Years Learning Frameworks.

We currently are recruiting for our new casual talent pool, which will be across both our Lady Huntingfield Early Learning and Family Services Centre and North Melbourne Children’s Centre. Both services are open 7.30am to 6.00pm.

Selection Criteria

All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to articulate and demonstrate benefits of positive culture and City of Melbourne’s iCare values – Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect and Excellence;

  • Diploma Children’s Services qualification
  • Experience working in an Early Childhood Services environment with demonstrated knowledge of the National Quality Framework, which includes the National Quality Standards, Early Years Learning Framework and Regulations
  • Current Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certificates that appear on the ACECQA approved qualification list.
  • Ability to engage ethically, and respect the diversity and abilities of children and families

In addition; the Qualified Early Childhood Educator will ideally possess;

  • Willingness to take on responsibility of certified supervisor if required.
  • Ability to work across full hours of centre operation – between 7.20am and 6.10pm, and to attend paid staff meetings and other centre directed activities out of working hours
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the National Quality Framework, which includes the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Frameworks
  • Previous experience managing a small team
  • Proven ability to work effectively with children, families and staff to achieve the best outcomes for children
