Are you an experienced cash adviser who can help the British Red Cross’ Cash Hub scale-up our cash-based humanitarian assistance delivery?

We are recruiting a Cash Hub Adviser, to be accountable for the provision of expert technical advice to specific workstreams within the Cash Hub strategy. Your work will accelerate the use of cash assistance and improve the quality and impact of cash.

More about the team you’ll be joining

In the British Red Cross we have seen for ourselves that giving cash assistance in the aftermath of a humanitarian crisis can often be a more effective and efficient option than offering goods and supplies.

We know from research and our experiences in the field that affected people can make independent decisions about what they most immediately need and buy vital items of their own choice.

We are a champion of the independence and greater choice this form of assistance can offer people in crisis.

The Cash Hub is hosted by British Red Cross and its purpose is to support the use and scale-up of cash assistance in the RCRC and enable National Societies to be ‘cash ready’ to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of humanitarian action, giving greater dignity and choice to people in crisis. In collaboration with RCRC partners, the Cash Hub supports the following programme of activities:

  • Supporting National Societies to be strong and recognised leaders in cash assistance; delivering quality, locally led cash assistance to crisis-affected people.
  • Growing cash capability at scale in the Movement by investing in National Society expertise, professional development, and best practice.
  • Providing a Movement platform for knowledge sharing and learning, enabling cash networks and communities of practice, and promoting the role of Red Cross & Red Crescent in action.

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience or a good knowledge of cash-based assistance and cash preparedness within the international humanitarian system, disaster management, international response, recovery and/or development context.
  • Technical/professional knowledge within the areas of cash assistance and markets or other relevant thematic areas.
  • Experience of design and implementation of cash-based assistance and/or market assessments and market-based interventions in relief and recovery contexts.
  • Good project experience and analytical skills that enable you to interpret information to communicate to and persuade decision makers and different audiences.
  • Competence in budget management and funding proposal development.
  • Influencing skills and experience of working with local partners, building their capacity in Cash and Markets
  • Fluency in at least one of the following languages: French, Spanish, Russian or Arabic and experience in the RC/RC Movement are required.
