About the role
We are currently looking for a Cash and Voucher Assistant Adviser to join our team. As a CVA Adviser, you will generally be deployed to support preparedness activities, or – when in a humanitarian response – to support the design, set up, and/or implementation and monitoring of CVA programmes in an emergency response. You will be expected to advise on all aspects of designing, setting up, and/or managing and monitoring all operational areas (including budget development and management, agency coordination and representation, security, logistics, compliance with internal policies and procedures and management of teams) of cash & voucher assistance in complement to existing local capacity

You will bring to the role significant and relevant overseas experience in designing, managing and implementing CVA for a broad range of institutional donors; and, management experience of operational aspects of CVA.

To be successful in the role you will be proficient in at least one of the following languages in addition to English: French, Spanish, or Arabic.

The Global Expertise and Humanitarian Surge Platform (GEHSP) is Save the Children’s global humanitarian surge, technical expertise and new business development deployment management function, operating on behalf of both members and SCI. It is dedicated to identifying, developing and deploying skilled and experienced talent from across the movement to meet the needs of our domestic and international programmes and humanitarian responses. Our vision is to help to improve the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of our humanitarian responses and programmes; directly contributing to Save the Children’s capability to deliver the best outcomes for children and their families.

Humanitarian Surge Team (HSTs) work alongside country, regional and member teams to support the scale up and management of international and domestic emergency responses, enabling positive change for children. The role of the surge staff varies depending on the needs of the response and could include:

  • deploying in the first days or hours following a natural disaster or crisis to lead the first phase of a response to sudden onset emergency;
  • supporting ongoing emergency response and recovery work through providing advice, guidance and expertise in a specific skill area;
  • providing short term interim cover for country office staff;
  • supporting delivery of capacity building initiatives.
