Background:

INARA provides life-altering medical care for children from conflict areas who have catastrophic injuries or illnesses and are unable to access treatment due to war. INARA steps in to fill the gaps in access to medical treatment when not provided by other institutions or non-profits, including financial assistance where needed.

INARA’s Case Management Officer is responsible for establishing a collaborative relationship to plan, seek, advocate for, and monitor services and resources on behalf of target children and their caregivers, adhering to the principals of bioethics and evidence-based practices. The Case Management Officer will limit problems arising from fragmentation of services and inadequate coordination among healthcare and rehabilitation providers. The Case Management Officer is also responsible for closing the gaps in cultural competence and health disparities between different service providers towards vulnerable populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Management & Healthcare Coordination

  • Ensure holistic management of each assigned case from case initiation to case closure, including implement bio-psychosocial assessment, accompany children and their caregivers to medical appointments, organize follow-ups and schedule surgeries/treatments, organize logistical support, and general liaison with medical providers and/or humanitarian organizations
  • Advocate for the best interest of children with other members of the interdisciplinary team and within the healthcare institution to ensure children’s and families’ informed decision-making, consent, concordance with plans of care, and quality of life
  • Coordinate hospital discharge and transition planning
  • Facilitate case referrals to/from partner organizations and agencies, and assist families in understanding related policies, eligibility criteria, and financial/legal issues
  • Ensure the implementation of common ethical and legal standards in social work in healthcare settings
  • Identify child protection and SGBV concerns, exploitation, and denial from resources.
  • Identify and build on protective and risk factors
  • Coordinate palliative care, including pain and symptom management, with medical staff
  • Address family systems issues, including the impact of healthcare concerns, illness, and disease on family relationships; life cycles; and caregiving roles and support models.

Behavioral Health

  • Identify and report to Case Management Coordinator cases related to grief, loss and bereavement; depression, anxiety, substance-use and other mental health conditions; sexual health and concerns related to sexual orientation, gender identity and roles. This should be taken into consideration according to the child’s stage of development.
  • Provide counseling and behavioral change evidence-based intervention.

Organizational / Administration

  • Maintain an updated case file using INARA’s digital platforms
  • Request and expend weekly allocated cash advances
  • Keep track of physical receipts and bills from treatment providers
  • Perform data collection for Monitoring & Evaluation and reporting purposes.

Working Environment

  • Located in Gaziantep, Turkey the working environment will be a combination of both field and office-based work
  • There may be times when the position holder is required to work on the weekends or evenings and undertake other duties which are broadly in line with the above.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social science or any relevant degree (medicine, pharmacy, nursing, health technician.),
  • Experience in health projects.

· 2 years of experience in the field of case management

  • Proficiency in Arabic and Turkish and English is required.
  • Turkish Citizenship is Required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to network effectively so that you can talk to a range of people;
  • Competence in Microsoft office, and data collection tools.
  • Decision-making skills for acting on policies and strategies;
