BACKGROUND:

Global Support and Development (GSD) is a humanitarian organization whose mission is to rapidly respond to disasters in collaboration with at-risk communities and support them to prepare for future disasters. We value collaboration and seek opportunities to amplify the work of others in-country, both in preparation for and in response to disasters. By integrating our team’s diverse skill sets and resources into local responses, we are able to provide rapid response assistance to affected communities in coordination with regional and country-level partners. We also work to build local capacity through community-led preparedness initiatives. GSD’s priority Area of Engagement is currently Latin American and Caribbean, with targeted support to the South Pacific (and expected future increase in operations for 2024 and beyond).

This position is part of the Partnerships and Programs department which is the driving force in partnership development and programs focused on preparedness and disaster risk reduction.

The Partnerships and Programs Department is housed in the Strategy Section and is comprised of Information, Planning, MEAL, and Communications. The Partnerships and Programs Department supports GSD in developing and maintaining external relationships that allow GSD to achieve its mission.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Global Support and Development (GSD) is a growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Caribbean Partnerships Manager helps oversee Global Support and Development’s (GSD) Partnerships in the Caribbean and Central and South America. This position is an external partner-facing role responsible for developing and implementing partnerships, while also being able to ensure GSD’s partnership proposition remains compelling and relevant to GSD’s mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Engage with project and organizational leadership to ensure shared vision and strategy for partnership development and relationship management;
  2. Develop and implement an outreach strategy for the Caribbean and Latin America, working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders across departments including the Director of Partnerships and Programs, the Caribbean Program Manager, Response, Capabilities, H/V and regional experts;
  3. Monitor and analyze humanitarian, rapid response, and community resilience partnership trends ensuring that the GSD’s partnership proposition remains compelling and relevant to GSD’s mission and the region;
  4. Manage existing partnership relationships, including day-to-day planning and engagement, as well as build new partnerships through stakeholder mapping, partner cultivation, and effective partnership management;
  5. Identify gaps and opportunities in coordination with partners, and activate resources to translate shared objectives into action;
  6. Synthesize GSD’s programs into clear, compelling presentations, proposals, and reports for public and private sector audiences which position GSD as a trusted, reliable, and respected partner in the humanitarian and development sectors;
  7. Identify and support the coordination of GSD’s partner engagement activities to promote the services of the organization, including philanthropic actions;
  8. Help facilitate internal GSD and external partner-focused communication, including updates on relationship development, engagement opportunities and outcomes, and annual impacts;
  9. Maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) records for partner portfolios and disseminate results and success stories for internal and external audiences;
  10. Promote and action humanitarian principles and GSD’s core values of accountability, humility, and integrity in all work we conduct;.
  11. At all times promote good stewardship of financial and other resources to achieve maximum benefit to those impacted by disaster or at risk of impact; and
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience:

  • At least five (5) years progressive work experience in partner/stakeholder management and engagement in the Caribbean to include any/all of the following:
    • Partnership identification, outreach, and cultivation;
    • Design and management of partner agreements and events; and/or
    • Supporting donor-funded projects to advance rapid response and resilience.
  • Desirable lived experience in the region.

Required Education:

  • BA in humanitarian affairs, communications, marketing, international relations, public relations or related field – OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
  • Masters of Public Administration (MPA) or a degree in a related field is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work with partners and translate shared objectives into operational delivery and, at times, respond quickly to changes in short-term priorities;
  • Ability to identify and build processes required to support effective partnerships;
  • High-level communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentation ability;
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of stakeholders to build relationships;
  • Discernment for confidentiality in relation to organizational, partner, and donor activities and communications;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, develop schedules, consistently meet deadlines, and attend to details;
  • Experience working and/or traveling domestically and internationally;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish or French required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • At this time, GSD is not offering sponsorship and is only accepting applications from persons eligible to work in the United States.
  • Estimated 50% annual domestic/international travel
  • GSD is currently using a hybrid work schedule and supports working from home on a limited basis in the short term with a transition to the HQ location expected in the next 3 months.
