Capacity Strengthening Advisor – Climate Adaptation Support Activity

Tetra Tech International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Capacity Strengthening Advisor position on a potential USAID-funded program in Washington DC.

The USAID Climate Adaptation Support Activity will be a five-year project based in Washington DC. The purpose of the activity is to support impactful adaptation across USAID by providing strategic support to USAID Missions and USAID/Washington Operating Units. The Capacity Strengthening Advisor will provide leadership and technical expertise on inclusive capacity building, convening and partnership and coalition strengthening to support impactful adaptation action. This position reports to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP). This is a five-year fixed-term appointment with benefits, contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:

* Provide technical leadership and oversight to the Activity’s capacity development strategy and ensure quality and inclusivity;

* Closely coordinate with technical team to integrate capacity development initiatives across all activities;

* In coordination with the MEL team, monitor impact of capacity building interventions and continually improve performance;

* Provide significant contributions to Activity project deliverables;

Qualifications:

* Master’s degree in climate science, environmental studies, natural resources management, international development, public administration, or another relevant field;

* At least 6 years of experience in climate change, capacity strengthening, sustainable development, or other relevant technical experience;

* Minimum 6 years of experience in technical positions focused on capacity development in multi-country donor-supported programs, with extensive experience on USAID-funded projects;

* Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in climate services;

* Professional proficiency in English is required

* Ability to travel internationally

* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
