JOB CONTEXT:

The PROJECT: “The Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) programme, under the banner ‘Leave No One Behind’, offers quality integrated and inclusive family planning and sexual and reproductive health services to marginalized and hard to reach populations: the poor, youth under 20 and people living with disability. WISH is the UK Government’s flagship programme to scale up its support to integrated sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services in a range of countries across Africa and Asia by 2023. It represents 20% of the UK Government’s Family Planning 2020 commitments. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) manages the WISH programme through a consortium arrangement (Lot 2) with 10 IPPF Member Associations and hand – picked partners chosen for their expertise to maximise access and reach for people in 15 countries: Development Media International (DMI), Humanity and Inclusion UK (HI), International Rescue Committee (IRC), Marie Stopes International (MSI), and Options Consultancy Services (Options)

WISH2ACTION has entered a 12 month Cost Extension period from the 1/4/2022 until the 31/4/2023. HI will continue in country inclusive SRHR activities in South Sudan, Uganda and Madagascar, offer remote technical assistance to all WISH2Action partners and will also offer targeted remote technical assistance to up to four WISH2ACTION Countries ( Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania and Ethiopia TBC)

The position will be a global position focused on inclusive SRHR Capacity development technical support for WISH2ACTION. The SRHR Specialist coordinates with the SRHR Technical Manager and the Global Coordination Unit based in Uganda, (Regional Operational manager, the MEAL Officer) with the WISH team in the countries of intervention (Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, Mozambique, Madagascar, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh and the GHD and HQ SRHR Specialist based in HQ.

YOUR MISSION:

The position will be focused on Capacity Development in inclusive SRHR for WISH2ACTION. The Capacity Development Specialist coordinates with the SRHR Technical Manager, the SRHR Specialist and the Global Coordination Unit based in Uganda, (Regional Operational manager, the MEAL Officer) with the WISH team in the countries of intervention (Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, Madagascar, and the GHD and HQ SRHR Specialist based in HQ. The objectives of the position is to, under the direction of the WISH2Action Technical Manager, ensure inclusive SRHR capacity development technical support to country-based teams; Consortium partners and Remote technical assistance countries but also to promote HI approaches in iSRHR through WISH2ACTION related communication, advocacy, research and policy influence.

Responsability 1 : You design, develop and deliver capacity development strategies to HI project teams and consortium members

-Design and facilitate formal training and informal training for the HI WISH program according to capacity development needs and include roll out plans and on-the-job systems and supervisory systems at the community levels

-Draft and adapt inclusive SRHR training materials and manuals and support their implementation.

-Coordinate closely with the Technical Advisors to ensure that training curricula and material support all program technical activities

-Identify potential trainers for roll out of training strategies. Facilitate training of trainer’s workshops, and other performance improvement interventions as needed and promote participation of trainers from OPDs

-As part of Remote Technical Assistance (RTA), contribute to the development of and conduct webinars for WISH consortium partners and assess WISH consortium partners’ strengths and weaknesses in inclusive SRHR. Design capacity development strategies to be delivered in online format as part of the webinar series.

-Develop interactive online formats using modern technology and ensure that all learning interventions are provided in accessible formats and approaches that follow the principles of universal design in communication.

-Monitor and evaluate capacity building activities in collaboration with the M&E Specialist and ensure monitoring of accessibility criteria respected by consulting participants with disabilities

-Participate in the overall program strategy development by integrating needs for institutional capacity building into program work plans and budget projections.

-Develop reports and communications on capacity building activities as requested.

-Ensure an up-to-date training and training document database is maintained of all key stakeholders and participants

Responsibility 2 : You contribute to the internal and external coordination within the project

-Ensure regular information exchange with all the relevant HI staffs at HQ, HI WISH regional and countries level

-Contribute to fluid communication and coordination among the different stakeholders of the WISH project consortium

-Initiate, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with implementing partner organizations, beneficiary communities and key stakeholders on capacity development strategies to ensure broad programmatic impact and results

Responsibility 3 : Networking and Advocacy

-Represent HI in the consortium learning events and meetings to assure visibility, participation and technical advocacy at consortium’s partners level

-Liaise with partners and key stakeholders to contribute to HI’s visibility and representation

YOUR PROFILE:

  • You hold a Master degree in Public Health, Development, Education or related field
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in capacity development in health in development settings
  • You have experience in developing training packages for face to face and online formats
  • You have training/experience in sexual & reproductive health and inclusive health
  • You understand disability inclusion
  • You demonstrate good communication and writing skills
  • You have strong strategic and analytical skills
  • You are a team player with constructive personality
  • You speak English and French
