Position Purpose

The Enrollment Assistant will be responsible for evaluating and processing admissions applications in accordance with internal policies and goals. The position will work closely with the Enrollment team to provide operational and administrative support for the pre-college programs at The School of The New York Times. The successful candidate will have a strong background in admissions, recruitment, or customer service. This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions, Pre-College.

In addition to fully participating in the selection and yield processes for The School of The New York Times, the role will often collaborate with members of the larger BrandEd team — the holding company which houses The School of The New York Times, Sotheby’s Institute of Art and City Football Leadership Institute. Through shared resources, learnings, collaborations, and a cross-functional team, the organizations benefit from more deep and broad capacities and resource sharing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities include the following, but the individual will also be expected to perform all the duties necessary which are customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.
Providing day-to-day support to the Enrollment team, including making outbound calls to leads and applicants, responding to inbound inquiries, pulling enrollment reports, reviewing applications, and scheduling admissions interviews.
Updating program applications and financial aid applications in tracking systems
Emailing prospective and admitted students as part of the communications plan
Maintaining student information systems and CRM to update student information, documents, and statuses to move students through the application process
Performing routine record checks to ensure accuracy and integrity of all admission databases and student files
Assisting in account creation in the student record system
Serving as admissions interviewer as needed
Assisting with billing and registration needs
Processing references and transcripts
Providing direct support to the Enrollment team in the effective delivery of recruitment events such as open houses, webinars, and in-person and virtual recruitment fairs
Assisting in additional admissions processes where needed

The Enrollment Assistant should have the following knowledge and abilities:
Experience working in admissions, recruitment, academic advising, student services, or customer service
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
Familiarity with the secondary and tertiary education systems of the US
Experience working in a diverse environment and/or with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment and knowledge of diversity and inclusion in education programs
Experience in the pre-college sector a plus
Proven ability to maintain the highest standards of written and spoken communication
A keen eye for detail
Time management and multitasking abilities
Demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy in interpersonal relationships
Regular weekday (Monday-Friday) attendance/availability is required during core business hours
Ability to work additional hours, if necessary

Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure Undergraduate degree
1-3 years of work experience in a relevant position
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
