Action Against Hunger is currently working with CALP to recruit a Deputy Regional Representative for CALP.

We are looking for someone to join a small CALP team in the Philippines to take forward CALP’s work in Asia and the Pacific – this is an exciting new role with huge potential. You’ll use your knowledge and experience of CVA and your influencing skills to provide technical support, to engage and convene people – supporting action that takes forward collective priorities. Your role will be regionally focused, and globally connected, working with a diverse range of people and organisations. The role includes work related to training, capacity development, evidence generation and learning, working to strengthen CVA policy and practice in the region. You’ll also have grant management responsibilities, with report writing and grant administration as part of the role.

You’ll be working towards CALP’s vision and strategic goals, delivering on our commitments to members, the wider humanitarian community and working towards better humanitarian action. The role requires highly collaborative ways of working – both within the CALP network and the CALP team. It requires being able to engage actors remotely, with only very limited travel.

You’ll be joining a strong and motivated CALP team which, while globally dispersed, is very connected and collaborates through daily engagement. The role is hosted by Action Against Hunger and based in their office in Manila.

Key activities in your role will include

  • Contributing to the development of the regional strategy and plans, focused on collective issues and collective action.
  • Leading engagement and technical support to Cash Working Groups (CWGs) in the region.
  • Providing technical input into strategically important debates, forums, policies and guidance.
  • Managing programmes and grants, working with others in the team to ensure their impactful delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Supporting regional fundraising, working with the Regional Representative and others to develop proposals and produce funding reports.
  • Working with CWGs, members and the network more broadly to prioritise, plan and implement regional initiatives including events and research.
  • Working jointly with the Learning and Development Coordinator, engage with regional academic and training institutions to embed CVA resources into appropriate courses.
  • Working with the Learning Delivery Lead, develop a pool of certified trainers
  • Ensuring robust uptake plans are developed to drive the use of evidence and guidance, both for new and existing resources.
  • Synthesising information generated within the network, write blogs and generate other communications content.
  • Signposting members to information and connections that will enable them to strengthen their work.
  • Monitoring activities and analysing results to inform on-going adjustments to plans and approaches.
  • Supporting the Regional Representative on network building and following up opportunities or leads.
  • Fostering membership development in line with overall membership strategy.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field, or equivalent level of professional experience
  • Technically competent on CVA (not required to be expert).
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills and the ability to facilitate and convene conversations with different stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesise information, and articulate complex ideas and experiences simply.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Sound presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Skills in monitoring and evaluation.
  • A high level of computer literacy.
  • Professional proficiency (written and verbal skills) in the predominant language of the region as well as English.

Our remuneration package:

  • Formal work contract: 24 months (fixed-term, renewable)
  • Base: Manila
  • Compensation based on salary grid
