About CBM Global Disability Inclusion CBM Global Disability Inclusion (CBM Global, for short) is a Christian international development organization and a world leader in global disability inclusion that works alongside people with disabilities in the world’s poorest places to fight poverty and exclusion and transform lives.

CBM Global’s vision is of an inclusive world where all people with disabilities enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential. The focus of our work underpinned by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Agenda 2030 is partnering with people with disabilities and their families who live in or are at risk of poverty, and who often cannot access their human rights on an equal basis with others. This can be because of the barriers people with disabilities face in accessing essential services such as health or education.

CBM Global works alongside people with disabilities in the world’s poorest places to fight poverty and exclusion and transform lives. Drawing on over 100 years of experience and driven by Christian values, we work with the most marginalized in society to: • break the cycle of poverty and disability. • treat and prevent conditions that lead to disability; and • build inclusive communities where everyone can enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

We work in over 20 countries, investing in long-term, authentic partnerships with the Disability Movement and multiplying our impact by delivering a combination of inclusive community-based programmes, advocacy for national and global policy change, and inclusion advice to other organizations. CBM Global’s core areas of work are Community Based Inclusive Development; Inclusive Eye Health; Community Mental Health; and Humanitarian Action.

A. Context background

More than one billion of the world’s population is living with a disability – 80% of whom live in developing countries. There is a vicious cycle of poverty and disability; 20% of the poorest people in developing countries have a disability. Millions of people with disabilities across the globe are affected by disasters, the COVID-19 pandemic, and climate change issues. People with disabilities commonly face profound stigma and discrimination and are routinely denied economic, social and leadership opportunities. CBM Global believes that it is only by partnering with people with disabilities and an authentic cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships with different parts of society – government, private sector and broader civil society movement can a real impact on inclusion be achieved.

CBM Global is partnership-based, working in authentic partnership with the disability movement and with other key organizations at the local, national, and global level. We believe that working with and enabling partner organizations is central to developing appropriate, high quality and sustainable programmes, advocacy engagement and external advisory work. We welcome a diverse range of partners who not only complement each other’s expertise, they also provide contextual understanding, and open the path to relevant local and international programmatic and advocacy networks and alliances. In partnership, we unite efforts, promote ownership, and share accountability. We mutually learn, build capacity, and achieve greater impact.
