Call for Consultants: Baseline study

The Mukwege Foundation will soon begin a project, funded by UNTFVAW (UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women), focusing on two conflict-affected countries – CAR and South Sudan – where sexual violence is being used as a tactic of war, compounding and exacerbating protracted humanitarian and economic crises.

The project therefore targets victims and survivors of conflict-related sexual violence who face extreme marginalisation and multiple, intersecting forms of discrimination, including crises-affected, conflict-affected, rural women and girls. The project will involve and benefit directly 480 CRSV survivors through the selected networks and their activities, and 65 children born of CRSV. The Mukwege Foundation and the co-implementing partners will work with the two survivor-led networks to develop a deeper intersectional understanding of the different forms of marginalisation and discrimination their members face, and to adapt and shape their activities accordingly.

The Mukwege Foundation is therefore recruiting a consultant/team of consultants with proven expertise in the field of monitoring and evaluation of development, human rights and humanitarian projects to conduct a baseline study, prior to activity implementation. The ideal candidate(s) would preferably also have experience working on the prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence and in engaging directly with victims and survivors.

Responses to this call for consultant(s) should include a technical and financial proposal, be a maximum of 5 pages excluding CVs for the consultant(s) and be accompanied by a cover letter (also excluded from the 5-page count). Teams that bring together relevant expertise related to this assignment are encouraged to apply. The final deliverables of the assignment are expected by March 2024 (exact date to be determined with the consultant(s)) and only financial offers of up to 20 000 Euro (inclusive of VAT and all relevant taxes will be accepted), including travel costs if necessary.
