Position Description:

SI is seeking a full-time Proposal Intern to join SI’s strategic, agile, and independent Domestic Diversification initiative. The intern will support new business development efforts in USG domestic agencies, including capture planning, bid tracking, partnering, and proposal development, submission, and follow-up. This position reports to the Vice President of Evaluation, Research, and Analytics and is a remote position. This will be an excellent opportunity to develop marketable skills related to strategy and positioning, capture and intelligence research, bids and proposals, USG contracting mechanisms, and the monitoring and evaluation landscape.

In this role, an intern, we will work with a deeply experienced and culture-motivated proposal team, and will work with the entire team to identify process improvements, write (RFPs/RFIs), and other important operational duties

The internship is available immediately and will last three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the needs of the Domestic Diversification initiative. This is a paid opportunity (at a rate of $15/hour). For this full-time internship, the candidate will be available 40 hours/week Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

Capture Planning:

  • Lead bid tracking, including filtering opportunities for bid consideration.
  • Conduct capture research, including background information on target clients, competition, potential partners, and current implementation efforts.
  • Identify opportunities with partner organizations, and coordinate and participate in meetings with potential partner firms.
  • Manage the bid tracker for domestic opportunities.

Proposal Development:

  • Review and analyze solicitations to identify critical items required for compliant responses, as well as strategies for winning and risks.
  • With the support of the Business Development team, manage the proposal/RFI processes, including:
  • Support kickoff and solution design meetings.
  • Manage proposal calendar.
  • Review and compile inputs from proposal team members, including consultants.
  • Draft select sections of proposals.
  • Contribute to cost proposals.
  • Support the review of technical and cost proposals.
  • Ensure responsiveness to and compliance with solicitation documents.

Strategy and Research:

  • Participate and contribute to strategy development.
  • Adapt and develop marketing materials for client outreach.
  • Research target clients and participate in appropriate events (e.g. webinars, conferences, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, including political science, business, public affairs, or communications. Current enrollment in a graduate program is preferred, but not required.
  • At least two years of work experience, ideally in a consulting or government contracting environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to follow through on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with DOT, DOI, DOE, VA, or EPA contracting preferred.
