THE ROLE
The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing, supporting and engaging customers to achieve profitable business relationships and identify new revenue opportunities. This position is accountable for:
- achieving volume, revenue and margin growth targets within a defined territory and business segment(s)
- implementing long-term organizational strategic goals
- building key customer relationships
- identifying business opportunities
- negotiating and closing business deals
- maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions
- supporting the Commercial team by developing functional strategies, setting new standards, and developing and implementing new processes that have a short to mid-term impact on the organization.
This work will be performed in line with the Corporate Vision by executing the sales strategy for NatureWorks through maximizing resin sales volume and pursuing targeted net unit return goals. In carrying out this role, the Business Development Manager will work closely with:
- cross-functional teams
- contacts in the industry
- supply chain partners
- retailers and brand owners
This position is 100% remote, based in your home office in The Netherlands, Germany, or Belgium. The travel requirement for this role within Northern Europe is currently at 25-30% and is expected to increase to eventually reach up to 50%. Occasional travel to the U.S. or other locations outside of Northern Europe may be required.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- College degree in Business/Commercial/Technical related field
- Three or more (3+) years of experience in business development or sales
- Two or more (2+) of experience in a sales or marketing role in the plastics or specialty chemical industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex accounts and reach the appropriate people (typically mid and senior management levels across key functions) in order to deliver the message
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of an organization
Nice to have:
- MBA or equivalent graduate degree
- Experience in working on a multi-function team including sales, technology and production
- Experience with retail, channel management, customer/distribution development or competitive analysis
- Demonstrated proficiency in German and/or Dutch
- Deep knowledge and/or experience in sales, customer development, and the development and implementation of sales strategies at a regional and/or national level
- Experience with multiple computer programs/technologies
