FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY Association is a Christian non –governmental, nonprofit organization located in Eduardo Mondlane Av. N°544, Bairro da Ponta-Gêa, Beira City, within the scope of the implementation of its Programs, is recruiting for its staff: 1 Business Development Manager to be based in Maputo. The Business Development Manager (BDM) will provide leadership in developing and executing strategies, approaches, tools and best practices towards acquisition of new government, multilateral, foundations and public grants in line with FH’s Resource Acquisition Strategy.to the role will contribute towards enabling FH Mozambique achieve the goal of graduating communities from extreme poverty, promote child well-being, through increased revenue in the key priority sectors of health, nutrition, education, livelihoods, leadership development, and disaster risk reduction and emergency response.

Tasks:

  • Establish FH Mozambique resource acquisition strategies in alignment with the FH’s global Resource Acquisition Strategy.
  • Keep abreast of relevant trends & developments within the development and humanitarian sector and help align FH Mozambique strategies to preposition the organization.
  • Work collaboratively with FH Mozambique senior management to integrate business development activities across departments and functions.
  • Conduct donor mapping and opportunity landscaping in collaboration with the Business Intelligence and Analytics team, and monitor year to date progress against resource acquisition targets.
  • Proactively engage and deepen relationships with existing donors with focus on US Government. Establish preferred partner status with key institutional donors – bi/multi-lateral donors, corporate and private foundations.
  • Proactively lead the development and deepening of partner relationships and networks (government agencies, INGO, Local NGOs, private sector. Create trust-based, high quality partnerships that contribute to the scaling and quality of programs and impact.
  • Increase organizational external engagement and raise FH’s visibility at relevant meetings, events, in country platforms. Establish donor-specific peer networks and develop FH Mozambique specific branding plans.
  • Develop and maintain business development resources and tools including opportunity tracking, proposal development guide, proposal templates with guidance from the GSC Proposal Development team.
  • Conduct advanced funding opportunity intelligence gathering and local / international partnership development, including research partners.
  • Host networking events to raise the profile of the organization and improve recognition with donors, peer agencies, and the national government.
  • Provide capacity building to FH Mozambique teams in business development, positioning, capture planning, networking and collaborate brokering.
  • Coordinate, lead and contribute to concept notes and high quality proposals in collaboration with the Proposal Development team for priority sectors and donors.
  • Keep up to date with US Government rules and regulations for submission of proposals.
  • Contribute to the color review process as required.
  • Provide liaison between FH Mozambique and GSC proposal team where required
  • Contribute to the After-Action Review process
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, compliance with FH Christian foundations and beliefs expresses in the heartbeat.
  • At least 5 years of related experience in a large and complex, global Non-Governmental Organization. Equivalent private sector experience will be considered
  • Bachelor degree in business, International Development or similar field, or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience and successful record of accomplishment in grant acquisition from major public donors.
  • Demonstrated experience in the acquisition &/or management of US Government grants is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English. Portuguese language skills and advantage.
  • Good presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate and positively and Influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to a broad stakeholder group.
  • Demonstrated computer-operating skills, including proficiency in Google platforms, Microsoft Office products, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or Zoom.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time domestically and regionally, to fragile contexts, countries and/or locations.
  • Facilitation and capacity building skills essential.
  • Legal authorization to work in Mozambique
