The Business Development Manager plays a key role in all aspects of business development, to include monitoring of donor trends and priorities, identifying new opportunities and devising response strategies, leading positioning and developing responsive and competitive proposals. She or he will have the opportunity to lead both large and small proposal teams, and new initiatives to drive the international division’s growth in alignment with MCD’s broader strategic priorities.

You will be responsible to work across diverse teams to strategize and .position the organization to win new business, manage the development of large, complex proposals while contributing to the broader new business development strategies, goals and revenue targets. In addition, you will cultivate new business relationships with donors as part of pursuing new business opportunities.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. international public health, international development, business administration) or equivalent degree with relevant experience. Master’s degree would be a plus.

· At least 7 years of relevant business development experience, of which at least 3 years of experience in leading proposal development efforts for a global public health organization. Experience in international public health is a plus.

· Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of new business positioning, development of complex proposals and managing donor and partner relations; and of overall proposal development processes and standards.

· Demonstrated experience leading positioning and proposal development for USAID procurements. Knowledge and experience working with non-USG donors such as foundations and corporate donors, bilateral and multilateral donors is a plus.

· Experience in managing proposal teams, initiate tasks, organize work, establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines.

· Excellent organization and time management skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy and quality.

· Strong writing skills and experience, particularly proposal writing (including technical writing).

· Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication skills; demonstrated ability to sustain engage collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

· Ability to problem-solve complex issues.

· Proficiency in MS Office

· Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment.

· Fluency in English; working ability in French, Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus

Location: Silver Spring MD office or full-time remote (with international travel)
