ABOUT ADRA: The Adventist Development and Relief Agency is an independent, humanitarian agency established for the specific purpose of providing individual and community development and disaster relief. ADRA Yemen pursue a mission of changing the world by uplifting one life at a time. ADRA International serves 142 countries and was present in Yemen since 1995. It has more than 1200 aid workers serving in Yemen making it one of the biggest ADRA operations in the world. Its programs are supported by USAID, OFDA, The Japan Platform, DANIDA, German Foreign Office, German Humanitarian Aid, Sida, UNOCHA, UNHCR, WHO, WFP and DFID. It has presence in 14 Governorates in Yemen responding to all areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, child protection, education, women’s protection and empowerment, NFI and food distribution, cash assistance, and livelihoods programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

SUMMARY:

The BD Coordinator is expected to be the lead proposal writer and business developer for ADRA Yemen projects. The BD Coordinator is required to provide overall quality assurance on all ADRA Yemen proposal development processes to ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals that are responsive to donor requirements, applicable regulations, and ADRA Yemen technical and cost standards. RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Development Coordinator will be responsible but not limited to:

Prepositioning and Capture Planning

  • Provide substantive, technical, programmatic support as needed; help oversee and support national program implementation, coordination, reporting, and compliance with donors’ regulations.
  • Ensure submission of quality project documents and revisions in consultation with relevant team members.
  • Working closely with the Head of Unit and senior program staff and facilitate opportunity pursuit decision-making.
  • Research, track and analyze donor priorities and new opportunities within the Yemen context.
  • Stay abreast of trends in new business development and share those within the ADRA Yemen team.
  • Support with maintaining key relationships with donors, collaborating organizations and private sector actors with an eye toward opportunity identification, shared value creation, strategic alliance formation and global brand positioning.
  • Train and mentor ADRA Yemen program staff and key local partner staff to improve their skills, including in proposal development, representation to donor and partner organizations, and marketing.

Business Development and Program Management Support

  • Provide overall quality assurance on all ADRA Yemen proposal development processes to ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals that are responsive to donor requirements, applicable regulations, and ADRA Yemen technical and cost standards.
  • Support and guide the identification of partners and negotiation of ADRA Yemen role on proposal consortia.
  • Serve as proposal coordinator, or other lead role in proposal team and facilitate or participate in bid analysis and proposal review processes. Lead or support proposal budget processes and propose recommendations to develop a competitive proposal.
  • Identify relevant technical assistance (in-country program staff, partner resources, regional technical and ADRA I advisors and/or consultants) needs to design, write, and package quality proposals as per donor requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Business, Social Science, or any related field.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in Business Development for different donors such as BHA, FCDO, Danida, & Sida as well as UN Agencies.
  • Excellent English Language (written and spoken) and very good writing skills.
  • Proven experience in program design, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proven experience in budget preparation and design.
  • Understanding of conflict, gender and environmental sensitive program approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: able to relate and communicate with confidence and professionalism to ADRA’s stakeholders.
  • Working competence in Microsoft Office: Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and on different donor schedules.
