The WaterAid Institutional Funding and Partnerships Team has been tasked with supporting WaterAid UK (WAUK) to grow the size of its programmes through restricted income. It is expected that this growth will primarily come from institutional partnerships with some of the world’s leading bilateral and multilateral development agencies, including FCDO and other bilateral governments, World Bank and other multilateral development banks, and newer climate financing. Within this context, the Institutional Funding and Partnerships Team is leading on the operationalisation of this growth as well as increasing the expertise and capability of the staff working on resource mobilisation and institutional partnership building.
This is a full-time permanent role that can be based in the UK, or any of the following WaterAid Programme Countries – Mozambique, Pakistan, Zambia.

The role of the Business Development Coordinator is pivotal in supporting two distinct but interconnected phases of the business development process i.e. tracking and positioning for forthcoming opportunities with donors and potential partners, and developing winning bids and proposals.
In this role, you will undertake desk-based research on funding opportunities, donors, partners and the external funding context, as well as coordinate the production of key documents for external use eg programme impact case-studies and example, early bid qualification documents, and opportunity specific materials and capacity statements.
You’ll also:
* Coordinate, develop, and perform due diligence processes eg ethical checks and early stage funding opportunities * Coordinate and support the development of guidance tools and templates, and develop and maintain a library of key organisational information and resources * Manage Funding mailbox, and organisational data on key external donor sites
The ideal candidate will have demonstrative experience of supporting business development and bid management processes (e.g. opportunity scanning and knowledge of key data sources, desk-based research, project management/process coordination)
To be successful you’ll also need: * Excellent research and analytical skills * Excellent attention to detail and ability to develop quality materials for external use in English * Proven experience of working in a busy office with some key stakeholders working remotely across different countries * Ability to coordinate and manage administrative and specialist information sources for varied audiences * An interest in international development work
Location The role will be based in the following WaterAid Country Programmes subject to right to work eligibility in the respective countries.
This is a full-time permanent role that can be based in the UK, or any of the following WaterAid Programme Countries – Mozambique, Pakistan, Zambia. This post will have to work closely with colleagues that are currently based in the UK, so time zones that make working in another country practicably feasible will be a consideration when choosing applicants. WaterAid supports flexible and hybrid working.
Salary Salaries and benefits for different countries will vary in line with the location of the successful candidate and depending on experience. See further details below:
- UK: Grade 6 – GBP 28,952 – 30,481
- Zambia: Grade D – ZMW 358,619 – 398,067
- Pakistan: Grade D – PKR 1,186,967 – 1,685,445
- Mozambique: Grade D – MZN 2,276,300 – 3,020,054
