Job description & key responsibilities

We are looking for a Business Development and Communications (BDC) Officer to join our two-person BDC team in Amsterdam.

Our new colleague will work with us to support communications activities (e.g. blog, website, newsletter, social media) and the development of our proposals for business opportunities.

This full-time position (32-40 hours) is offered as a 1-year contract. Following this first contract, we will be open to discussing possibilities of extension and career development.

Profile

We are looking for a recent graduate or early career professional with strong organizational and communication skills, interested in working as part of a collaborative and supportive team focused on social impact. This position would suit someone with experience working in a NGO, think tank, government, mission-driven firm or similar contexts.

Our ideal candidate has one year of work experience in an environment where communications, and/or grant or proposal development, were a key task; and a degree in Communications, International Development, Public Policy, any of Laterite’s key sectors, or any other relevant area;

Excellent communication skills in English are a must, and so is a special interest in writing and editing. A connection with, or previous experience in (or related to) East Africa is welcome, but not essential.
