Our Global Partnership team is looking for a dynamic Business Development advisor who will support the operationalization of Danish Red Cross’ (DRC) recently launched International Strategy, Ready to Act, which sets the overall direction and priorities for DRC´s work with communities, people, and partners towards a positive change.

Are you good at translating overall visions and strategies into strong business plans? Do you have a good understanding of humanitarian settings? Can you mobilize partners to ensure success and produce results even in the toughest of markets? Then, this job is for you!

The position lies within the Global Partnership team in the International Department in DRC Headquarter office. The team is the link between the field and key donors and partners. In consultation with the team, technical experts, Deputy Head of Regions, and country managers, you will develop and support the implementation of strong business plans to reach our strategic objectives.

Your future position
The main purpose of the Business Development Advisor is to help translating visions into business priorities and strong resource mobilization plans. You will secure an appropriate level and diversification of resource mobilization to support DRC’s actions within the focus areas Health/psychosocial support, anticipatory action/Response and Migration.

You will identify trendsetter ideas, new partnerships, and essential players within a specific thematic or geographical focus area. You will support the development of business plans that can bring a breakthrough or market concept to scale.

As Business Development Advisor a selection of your task will be to:

  • Ensure the dissemination and use of business development tools at HQ, regional and local levels
  • Co-design, co-develop and support implementation of business development plans linked to global and regional strategies
  • Pitching plans and investment opportunity to management
  • Identify, develop, and support new and current partnership engagements including identifying and building relationships with prospective collaborative partners
  • Participate in fora, conferences, or networks
  • Screen and develop possible funding opportunities
  • Coordinate and support drafting of funding applications

Are you the ideal candidate?
You are navigating smoothly in, at times, challenging humanitarian frameworks, and you are familiar with its key stakeholders. You see opportunities when others see obstacles. Not only you think outside the box, but you are able to influence the thinking of others and get them on board with your ideas. You can easily navigate in international work environment and are ready to travel often.

You have a proven track record of providing impactful and actionable solutions.

We expect you to have:

  • A master’s or MBA in Business, International Affairs, International Development or related
  • Strong skills in planning and facilitation
  • A good understanding of the international development funding sector
  • Prior experience grant writing or winning grant awards
  • Strong networking skills
  • Minimum 5 years of work with strategy development and project/programme management
  • Some field experience with development/ humanitarian work
  • The ability to engage and provide capacity support at different levels

In addition, you have diplomatic instincts with good communication and negotiation skills. You work professionally in English. Knowledge of Danish, French and/or Arabic is an advantage.

A full-time position of 37 working hours per week in a busy and inspiring workplace showing flexibility and caring about staff welfare. You will refer to the Head of Global Partnership in Copenhagen.

Salary and employment conditions will comply with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargain agreement with HK and AC.
