IMS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Business Development Advisor to join our dynamic and inclusive MENA team. We are 35+ staff members in the MENA department based mainly in HQ in Copenhagen, as well as in the MENA region. As our new Business Development Advisor, you will be engaged in a team securing the conceptualization and successful implementation of partners’ capacity development projects specifically within the field of business development.

You will be part of a MENA Advisor team and report to its Team Lead, work closely with Programme Managers and Advisors in the MENA team but also with the Communications Unit, and other cross-cutting units where needed.

Key functions and responsibilities

  • Work closely with a selected group of IMS partners to inspire them and build their skills in the field of business development.
  • Ensure selected IMS partners develop and test new or develop existing business plans in close coordination with partners (and IMS’ advisors and Program Managers).
  • Advise on digital media strategies, including audience analytics, audience engagement and use of audience data for business development.
  • Maintain close contact with local and international partners relevant to IMS’ strategic objectives and values at programme level.
  • Provide timely programme and contextual updates, as well as workplans, narrative reports, etc.
  • Work closely with the MENA Program Development Team to develop and implement metrics, evaluate impact, and document action steps and lessons learned.

Qualifications and skills

  • 5-8 years of practical experience doing business development preferably within the media field.
  • In-depth experience with business development, engaging and coaching colleagues and partners.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team within guidelines.
  • Written and verbal skills in Arabic and English is a must.
  • A master’s degree within a relevant field of study
  • High interest in the current political and media environment in the MENA region
  • Ability to travel within the MENA region and Europe.

Duration and location

  • Expected length of employment: 2-year contract (starting 1st May 2024) – with possible extension.
  • Place of employment: Flexible, but Arabic speaking applicants based in the MENA region will be prioritised.
