The IRC provides trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants to support a positive resettlement experience and the achievement of client self-sufficiency. They work closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to develop service and/or self-sufficiency plans to meet individual client needs and preferences utilizing a broad range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements.

Scope of position:

The Budgets & Planning Coordinator is a member of the IRC Texas Finance team. Under the direction of the Finance Manager, will support professional accounting and budgeting duties; provide technical expertise to support fiscal year decisions making; to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions, monitor, analyze, and reconcile financial operations. Assist in preparing and auditing complex financial and budgetary statements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support the Finance Manager in budget creation, projections, and project spending plans to deliver more efficient and effective reports and financial analysis.
  • Providing technical guidance and expertise to other staff regarding standards, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Supports the Finance Manager to ensure accurate and timely upload of grant budgets to Integra and generate budget v actual reports for spending plan review and update. Coordinate with department staff and the finance team to ensure project budget and actual data are current and complete.
  • Manage individual budgets as assigned and prepares periodic reports for various restricted contributions and grants; Review expenses and investigate/report any questionable charges for timely corrections as necessary.
  • May prepare or assist with the preparation of financial and other reports required by funders and monitoring agencies during monitoring/audit visits, or as needed.
  • Prepare journals for budget recording/reclassifications as needed.
  • Reviewing financial statements (balance sheet, income statement); Preparing reports required by funders and monitoring agencies during audit visits.
  • Assisting Finance Manager in preparing journals for budget recording/reclassification as needed.
  • Preparing reports on budget performance and recommending corrective action where needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Position reports to the Finance Manager
  • Collaborates with Finance team members and Program Leads

Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as Accounting or Finance with the budgeting process, financial analyzing, reconciliations, and reporting experiences or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in reviewing general ledger transactions and basic bookkeeping/accounting.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time; Strong analytic problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Pdf) and ERP software.
  • Commitment to DEI principles and an inclusive work environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to:

  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative, effective, and friendly working environments.
  • Work independently with minimum supervision and meet schedule and timeline.
  • Operate a computer and all office equipment assigned for work efficiency.

Working Environment:

During pandemic Standard, professional office environment. Offices hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5pm. Must be comfortable working on a computer for long periods of time.
